Gluten Free Day Care In Salt Lake City?

My husband just recently passed away and my 3 year old daughter has celiac disease. She is ultra sensitive to gluten on her skin as well. I need to have safe place for her to go while I go back to school. Is there anyone who knows how to solve this problem? Is there such a thing as a gluten free day care?

I am so sorry for your loss.

Have you though about finding another mom who can take care of your dd at her home? Maybe you can meet someone through a local gluten-free support group. Or meet someone through church or in your neighborhood.

hi, i don't know of a daycare that would be able to provide her with a gluten free environment as little kids stuff gold fish in their pockets and she would have ready access to contaminated surfaces all over a daycare.... i would see if there is a family nearby that is also gluten free and go that route. I live in utah county and would not be able to help with babysitting, but there have to be people who live near slc that can be trusted to be a responsible provider....by the way if you know of a celiacs support group nearby i would love to meet them as my 6 year old has celiacs.....

Sorry for your loss and health issues. I was thinking about this just today. I am in Idaho, sorry. I did daycare (not gluten-free) for 9 years. There is no way to guarantee any child safe from gluten unless they were very mildly allergic but even that could cause damage. I would go with the other ideas.

we are in utah county by highland -lehi border, and we havn't met too many people with ceilac's from the area. today we went to thhe store "against the grain" on 5400 south in taylorsville and saw some of the stuff in there.... we were pretty pleased to see some cereals we didnt know were gluten-free but are looking to see if there are anyother boys in first grade next year with diabetes and celiacs he can be buddies with, as for now he feels pretty singled out , but we are pretty new to this whole thing soo we are taking it one day at a time

      Celiac for dummies

      I was just diagnosed at 26 after accidental finding. Any simple tips for newbies? Things a non celiac would never think of? I already went through my prescriptions and identified some medications that have gluten. Is there a beginners guide? Celiac for dummies?

You might be surprised to find out how your health improves and how much better you feel once you eliminate gluten from your diet. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder that, when gluten is consumed, triggers an attack on the villous lining of the small bowel. This is the section of the intestines where all our nutrition is absorbed. It is made up of billions of tiny finger-like projections that create a tremendous surface area for absorbing nutrients. For the person with celiac disease, unchecked gluten consumption generates inflammation that wears down these fingers and, over time, greatly reduces the nutrient absorbing efficiency of the small bowel lining. This can generate a whole host of other nutrient deficiency related medical problems. We also now know that the autoimmune reaction to gluten is not necessarily limited to the lining of the small bowel such that celiac disease can damage other body systems and organs such as the liver and the joints and cause neurological problems.  It can take around two years for the villous lining to completely heal but most people start feeling better well before then. It's also important to realize that celiac disease can cause intolerance to some other foods whose protein structures are similar to gluten. Chief among them are dairy and oats but also eggs, corn and soy. Just keep that in mind.

      Wow! Thank you @trents I  really appreciate the responses. This line of diagnosis has me questioning a lot of symptoms over the course of my life. Very validating and very much a bummer at the same time.
