Makeup Counters In The Mall - Good Brands?

I need help with makeup. I don't really know how to use it very well. I'd like to go to a makeup counter and get some help, but I have reactions to many brands. I don't know what is in Clinique, but it makes me break out like crazy. Same goes for MAC eyeshadows.

Any suggestions? What major makeup brands with counters tend to be pretty easy on the skin? I mainly need eye makeup.

This was a thread a day or so ago about gluten-free Clinique products.

I used to work for one of the Big 3 Cosmetic counters, and we had a lot of eye shadow returns from people who were allergic to the red dyes that are often used in eyeshadows. MAC is really into dramatic color, so I would suspect that a lot of their shadows have that dye in it. But I would call which ever one you are interested in, because most of the consultants don't have the information readily available to help you with a specific allergen.

Not sure if that's what is bothering you, but I hope it helps a little. :D

This isn't a makeup counter brand, but there is a thread about a makeup company here: Open Original Shared Link

They offer free samples, you just pay the postage. I haven't ordered my samples yet, but I undertsand the shipping isn't too high. The people who have tried it seem really excited.

I recently won a large amount of MAC makeup and cosmetics. I like their lip gloss, eyedshadow, liner and nail polish. There were allergens in some of their other things though, so I gave those away. I do not have an issue with wheat/gluten, but daughter does and there was some in some of the makeup. The lip conditioner had almond and I'm allergic. And there was soy in some things. We both avoid that.

hi, i want to say thank you to you and @trents   . after 2 phone calls to my GI, her office called me back to tell me that a blood test was “unnecessary” and that we should “follow the gold standard” and since my biopsy did not indicate celiac, to follow the no dairy and sucraid diet. i luckily have expendable income and made an appt for the labcorp blood test that day. i just got my results back and it indicates celiac disease i think 😭   im honestly happy bc now i KNOW and i can go gluten free. and i am SO MAD at this doctor for dismissing me for a simple blood test that wouldn’t have cost her anything !!!!!!!!!!! im sorry, im so emotional right now, i have been sick my whole life and never knew why, i feel so much better already   my results from labcorp:   Celiac Ab tTG TIgA w/Rflx Test Current Result and Flag Previous Result and Date Units Reference Interval t-Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA 01 28 High U/mL 0-3 Negative 0 - 3 Weak Positive 4 - 10 Positive >10 Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) has been identified as the endomysial antigen. Studies have demonstrated that endomysial IgA antibodies have over 99% specificity for gluten sensitive enteropathy. Immunoglobulin A, Qn, Serum 01 245 mg/dL 87-352

      Thank you this really helped.

Okay that is really good to know. So with that being positive and the other being high it makes sense she diagnosed her even without the endoscopy. So glad we caught it early. She had so many symptoms though that to me it was clear something was wrong.   yeah I think we had better test us and the other kids as well.

One doctor suggested it, but then seemed irritated when I asked follow-up questions. Oh well—

@GlorietaKaro, your respiratory reactions to gluten make me wonder if there might also be an allergic (anaphylaxis) component at work here.
