...To any of you who have recently quit, do your best not to light up again. Like other people have said dont put yourself through it twice, it is so hard.

...

Amen! & never again!

Like other people have said don't put yourself through it twice, it is so hard.

I need a hobby lol, besides cooking and baking =)

Well my 102 temp is gone so can be a little more coherent........let's hope

Morning post full of errors:)

Jen, I don't know why this last of 6 times was the hardest for me

Let yours stop at 2.

I took up knitting. really helped.

before when i quit I'd eat chocolate but not with my restrictive diet can't eat much but at least not gaining weight so guess we have to take the good with what we have right?

Proud of you Jen.

I think reading the old posts helped you and if has helped me too.

Hi all,

Just thought I would send a note to you all. Hope everyone is doing good =)

Almost gave in today

after yard sale and several other major stresses, i almost did but hanging on with my nails.

how are you doing after your Friday date?

Judy

msmini14 Enthusiast

I am doing good, I made it through yesterday lol. I am going to have a postive outlook this time around. I just need to get out of that routine again, at least I didnt smoke in my car that was the worst ever, just as bad as the morning smoke.

Judy, you have come so far I know you can keep this up. I am back to telling myself the same old thing, I am a non smoker and I only feel this way because I smoked not because I quit.

Have you considered using the step 3 patch? It might help out a lot, takes away those horrible cravings.

Hope everyone is doing good =)

ranger Enthusiast

I haven't posted for awhile because I FAILED! Today, I sat down and read all 16 paged in this topic and decided to 'fess up. This is just awful! It started with me "sneaking" a cig here and there. And then those got closer together, till I was back to my old level. Then, the price of tobacco shot up, and we discovered pipe tobacco was still cheap. So now I'm rolling pipe tobacco and it's killing me. I'm using my inhalor everyday and miserable and depressed. Why can't I just quit? What is wrong with me? I only have three patches left, and no money to buy any till Aud 21 because my stupid renter didn't pay his rent. I'm going to try again, and getting back on here has helped me to think that way . Please forgive me and HELP!

Susan

msmini14 Enthusiast

Oh Susan, I am so sorry. I just went through the same thing and I was ashamed of myself too.

Listen, dont be hard on yourself. Not smoking is so difficult since it has been part of our lives for so long. Please dont beat yourself up for it that doesnt help you at all.

I started smoking again in May, but I started smoking cigars! Horrible, I felt so bad but I enjoyed it. You know that feeling.

I set a quit date for myself about a week ago so I could mentally prepare for it. Telling myself ok in two days I am a non smoker, etc. Everytime I puffed on a cigar I just started to hate it more. Well yesterday I went back on the patch, starting all over and going to take my time with this final quit.

Dont beat yourself up, set your quit date for when you can get the patch and try again. I would not start with just a few patches and depending on how much you have been smoking I would start with step 1.

You can do this, you need to belive in yourself and I hope you have a supportive family if not you can always come here. You have the courage to change the things you can and this is one of them.

Dont be afraid to post like me, as you read I told everyone I fell off the wagon and they all came here to support me.

Once you get the cravings and routine out of your life you will feel so much better.

This was my routine when I smoked:

Lit up right after I got out of the shower.

Smoked after breakfast before my drive to work.

Smoked when I got to work.

Smoked on my 2 ten minute breaks and lunch

Smoked when I got home, after dinner, lol was horrible.

Now in the morning I stretch and ride my stationary bike

Do a few exercies at work before people get here

Go on a walk for my 2 ten minute breaks

And now I will just exercise when I get home

It is so hard and its ok if you fell off the wagon, now you just have to get back on and keep going. Set a quit date, you can do it, we are all here for you.

Thanks,Jen, I will quit, but I know I need the patches. I also have to learn how to deal with stress. The stress is always there and will be there but I am in such a rut and don't have good coping skills. I almost wish I had something like valium, but I hate taking drugs. Maybe I should consider that for a short time. It seems to have helped several people here. Got to do something!

msmini14 Enthusiast

I will probably see the doctor soon also, I know I am going to need something to help with the anxiety and stress. When I stopped using the patch and no longer had nicotine I would find myself crying for no reason at all and I mean full on crying. When I got to work, when I got home, it almost seemed never ending. I felt so bad for my husband because he wasnt sure if it was him or not, which it wasnt. Everything just built up inside me, was tough but I know what to expect this time.

I was just reading through some threads about quitting smoking on here! It is the hardest thing ever! I quit cold turkey in 2002, and found out less than a month later I was pregnant (like an hour pregnant - LOL) with my daughter. I did not smoke again after she was born. Fast forward two years later, my son is born and after he turned about 7 months old - I stopped working to become a stay at home mom. SIX weeks later, I decided I was either going to take up drinking, heroin or smoking.... I was stressed beyond stressed! Drunk driving was not an option, I don't care for needles... so smoking was the natural option... :P

Fast forward to January 2007. I began having major chest pains. Probably some anxiety, but probably *other health issues* Plainly put, I swore I was dying of a stroke or something! LOL! I immediately decided that quitting smoking was my best option. I will be 35 this December, and had been smoking since the 6th grade (which I recently discovered I was only TEN YEARS OLD in... OMG - GROSS).

I am proud to announce that I will be smoke free for two solid years on January 6, 2009!

I think quitting smoking was not only a chemical issue, but an emotional issue. Cigarettes were my comfort... my stress reliever... my *me time*. I have since found more productive and healthy ways to fill those needs... and I want to encourage anyone on their *quitting journey* to NOT give UP! It is amazingly DIFFICULT, but all things in life worth achieving, usually are!

Thanks for the post! lol kind of funny, I dont care for needles either! lol.

Thank you for the encouragement, we all need it, for ex smokers, current smokers, etc.

It is emotional for me too, like I said before there would be times when I would just start to cry for no reason at all.

Please share with us some of the activities you gave yourself when you quit, if you dont mind.

Hi Judy!

I am good, just sitting here at work chewing on a straw lol. Still going strong, just want this to be over already.

I know I wanted to smoke really bad this morning but that is because I waited to long to put my patch on. I just have to tell myself smoking will not make anything better.

Hope you are doing good too Judy!

msmini14 Enthusiast

HI

Fess up time.

Last Wed i almost fired the Realtor and was in such a blind rage..............

i had a cig.

this showing the house .........PERFECT.............

NOW I'M NO MARTHA STEWART...................

NEVER WANTED TO BE.

I like dirt..........dirt is my friend

long story

we had a realtor luncheon for 1-4

At 12:00 we had 13 realtors in the living room

house ready but i was trying to get some cereal to keep a 12:30 hair apt.

Just about lost it but the local realtor were so nice

told me not to worry

in Del county, they are ALWAS 12-2

some had showings and couldn't come back so i just let them all go thru and eat in front of them.

They someone would stay till the next realtor came so the house wouldn't be unattended.

i stayed till 1:00 and SHE STILL WAS THERE

i left.

called her from hair dresser at 1:15 and got attitude saying.......she was busy putting food out

i said i just wanted to know if she came.

she said. They didn't read the times so NOT HER FAULT

TRUE.

BUT U'D THINK IF SOMEONE WAS SHOWING THE HOUSE WITH LUNCH BEING SERVED.........YOU BE THERE AT LEAST 1/2 EARLY

SO

THERE WE HAVE IT

sorry re caps.

wasn't looking and not re typing.

Having one a day but not every day.

i don't even feel guilty

just tired and honked off

i need to grow some balls.

woops......not on the silly thread

sorry.

Judy

msmini14 Enthusiast

Judy I am so sorry to hear about that mess.

I know, I smoked too. Yesterday and today I have been smoke free. I wasnt smoking all day or anything, moslty in the mornings then I would stick my patch on. So I understand, it can be so hard and frustrating.

I hope you are doing good =)

Susan

mushroom Proficient

Good on ya, Ranger Susan! Yes, it is pharking hard, but well worth the effort in the end

ranger Enthusiast

Whoops! Forgot that I wasn't on the silly. Oh, well. I'm bad.

:D:D:D

DAY 3! I've never done this before -3 days without cheating at all. And it feels good. Anybody else quit?

msmini14 Enthusiast

I have been doing great this past month, weening myself from step 2 patch to step 3 only because I get so light headed with the drastic change in nicotine.

Susan we are glad to hear you are doing good =) Yup it is hard, just have to keep strong.

Judy, I really hope you are doing ok. ;)

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?

Thankyou so much for your words. Its a hard battle when a supposed well known hospital whose celiac " specialist " has down played me because my colon looks fine and put it in my medical and so pcp doesn't take seriously. In their eyes we all carry that gene.Im having alot of bad days trying to be positive because of it.
