Cross Contamination - 3 Musketeers?

ugh.

I just had my first full-blown attack of cramps and explosive D since going gluten-free.

It was a 3 Musketeers Bar, which is supposed to be gluten free.

They're off my safe list for good, but I'm wondering if anyone else had problems with these?

They were on a web list of foods that have tested positive for contamination, but the list was from back in 2002.

I had some bloating and mild D on two ocassions I ate them and couldn't rule anything else in. I had purchased it with coffee in the snack bar on campus , the 2 thing I can eat there- well just 1 now, coffee.

Thought maybe it was the coffee but i drink mine black & it doesn't happen when i drink coffee w/o the three musketeers. So yeah i had suspected something up or that i was just weird. (could be both :)

OMG I am sooo sick.

I'm right back where I started....

headache, hate the world, exhausted, explosive D, anger and depression

I can't believe I lived this way for so long...but now that I know what it's like to not be like this it makes it much harder to bear.

all this from only trace amounts? this is crazy. I want to jump off a cliff :(

henny,

I'm sorry you are so sick and I have no good advice- I rarely eat anything processed other than Tinkyada pasta or Larabars. I was thinking of trying a 3 musketeer bar soon and you are making me rethink that decision.

Please feel well soon!

No problems here. I munch on them at work. BUT I haven't worked out my level of sensitivity to gluten nor milk yet though. Right now I think the dairy is just as much of a culprit as the gluten so sometimes it's hard to tell. Hope you feel better soon!

Considering you haven't been gluten free very long, it may be that your body is still healing and having trouble processing even safe foods.

thanks guys

I'm feeling much better this evening.

truthfully I shouldnt be eating that sort of junk anyway *blush*

what a bizarre experience. It was more than just a physical return to previous symptoms, but mental/emotional regression as well. The blurred thinking, anger, and depression came right back too.

And the headache! UGH! I haven't had that headache since going gluten-free but had suffered it nearly every day for the past 15 years before.

It could have been a coincidence, you are right. My husband is not gluten free, so there are sources of CC in my kitchen that could have caused it. The candy being the source was on my mind because it's the first 'new' food I have tried since going gluten-free. I may have been too quick to blame it.

Never ever apologize for eating chocolate ;) Glad you're feeling better. Hope it was kitchen CC and the 3 Musketeers are OK.

So I've been dealing with chasing the name celiac because of my body actively dealing with health issues related to celiac though not eating. Diagnosed in 1994 before foods eliminated from diet. After 25 years with former pcp I googled celiac specialist and she wasn't because of what ive been through. I wanted my results to be sent to my pcp but nothing was sent.I have email copies.I did one zoom call with np with team member from celiac specialist in Nov 2025 and she asked me why I wanted to know why I wanted the celiac diagnosis so bad, I sad I don't, its my life and I need revalidaion because its affecting me.KB stated well it shows you are.I asked then why am I going through all this.I was labeled unruly. Its been a celiac circus and medical has caused anxiety and depression no fault to my own other than being born with bad genetics. How is it legal for medical professionals to gaslight patients that are with an ailment coming for help to be downplayed? KB put in my records that she personally spent 120min with me and I think the zoom call was discussing celiac 80 min ONE ZOOM call.SHE is responsible for not explaining to my pcp about celiac disease am I right?

I've noticed with my age and menopause my smell for bread gives me severe migraines and I know this. Its alarming that there are all these fabulous bakeries, sandwich places pizza places popping up in confined areas.Just the other day I suffered a migraine after I got done with my mri when a guy with a brown paper bag walk in front of me and I smelled that fresh dough bread with tuna, I got a migraine when we got home.I hate im that sensitive. Its alarming these places are popping up in airports as well.I just saw on the news that the airport ( can't remember which  one)was going to have a fabulous smelling bakery. Not for sensitive celiacs, this can alter their health during their travel which isn't safe. More awareness really NEEDS to be promoted, so much more than just a food consumption!FYI I did write to Stanislaus to let them know my thoughts on the medical field not knowing much about celiac and how it affects one.I also did message my gi the 3 specialist names that was given on previous post on questions on celiac. I pray its not on deaf door.
