Still Bothered By Other Things...

Hey guys, I've been gluten free for a few weeks now (aside from a few cross contaminations and a mistake or 2) and I'm having a lot of problems with dairy and sugar. If I drink soda or eat candy that is gluten free and processed away from wheat or other contaminants I get digestive symptoms as if I've eaten gluten. I can eat a little cheese on a taco or on a burger, but if there's too much I go off. What's the deal? I'm not lactose intolerant.

This leads me to my next question, which is how big of a setback in the recovery process is a glutening incident or a dairy trigger? If I'm still recovering from 4 months of not knowing about this condition, will eating a crouton set me back a day? A week? Is there any way to know?

Hello! Time frame, setback? Not sure......On the the other deal you mentioned, there is a host of other things that could be a problem, dairy, sugar, CC on and on, but what stands out to me is "corn" as in corn syrup.....Soda, candy, a lot of it is made with corn. Corn intolerance and/or allergy is a huge issue in this country. I speak from experience. I had this "other nagging issue" and just could not figure it out until I was tested for "the big 8". I would really think about getting other food

testing done. Hope this helps! Mike

P.S. Did you know that table salt with iodine has dextrose (corn) in it? I didn't.

If it is sugar or cheese that makes you have digestive issues. I would look into candida. It can cause lots of terrible digestive issues that sometimes feel similiar to an gluten reaction.

It can take longer than 6 months for antibodies to drop to the normal range,  My DGP IgA took a few years as I got stricter and stricter about being gluten free  But having symptoms again could also mean you’re getting some gluten in your diet.

Hi, I just had my 6 month check after being diagnosed Celiac 6 months ago.  All of my panel numbers were normal except: Deamidated Gliadin Abs, IgA (It is 31 with high being over 30)  I have also been having symptoms again. Am I not actually being as careful as I think I am or does it take longer than 6 months for this particular test to come back down?  I can't get ahold of my doctor this week as she is out.     Thank you!

That is very strange, because it looks to me like two very different test results, but for the same test! It's definitely time to contact your doctor for clarity on this.

Same day which is strange to me.

Scott, thank you SO MUCH for this!! She has been through so much in the last three years as we've tried to track down answers. This language will definitely help me help her to reframe.
