Warning - Watch Your Ore Ida Products!

Just wanted to put a warning out there about Ore Ida products. I went to make lunch today and got out my bag of Crispy Crowns that say "Gluten-Free" in big white letters under the ingredients. Luckily, I double checked the ingredients before I put them in the oven . . . Wheat Flour listed right in the ingredients and following the allergen information :o Couldn't believe Wheat Flour and Gluten Free were listed about 2 inches apart on the packaging! I emailed the company . . . no response yet.

Just wanted to give you all a heads up!

Thank you very much for posting this WOW.....

We buy Ore Ida all the time... will be double checking our packages. Please keep us informed if you hear back from the company.

Thanks

Yeah, I'm interested to see which was a mistake - the gluten free labeling or the wheat ingredient - pretty scary either way!

I would contact the company and explain the issue. A serious issue in my opinion.

Sorry, it said that the company is aware of the misprint and is working hard to correct it. The product is not gluten free.

Thank you! I was assuming the "Gluten Free" was the misprint since after I went to their website, the crispy crowns were not on the Gluten Free list. I hope they will at least refund my $$$. That's a very serious mistake!

I just got an email from the company to call their customer representatives - they said that the wheat flour was the mislabel (they just switched ingredients) and that the gluten free label is correct, the wheat flour is no longer an ingredient in the Crispy Crowns. I said I absolutely do not trust that the product is gluten free and wanted a refund - they are sending me a check. Definitely will not be buying Ore-Ida again :(

I had purchased Ore Ida "tater tots". They didn't list any gluten ingredients. However, they aren't on the gluten-free list but I can't find them listed on the website at all.

Anyone have any experience with those? I opted not to eat them last night but lacking any other info I'll try them over the weekend when I have time to recover if I'm wrong.

Edit: I have found them on the website, still can't see a gluten ingredient...

Tater Tots are gluten free and are on the list. My brother just told me over the weekend that the Crispers are now marked as gluten-free on the bag (these were my favorite fries). I called the company just to make sure and they said they are infact gluten free. There were never any gluten ingredients in them, but I simply didn't eat them because they weren't on the list. I bought a bag last night! Yum!

I called about Tater Tots in August and were told they are indeed Gluten Free. Enjoy!

Hey there, have you been tested for allergies? You may not only have celiac disease but be allergic. I have celiac disease and am allergic to Barley, wheat and rye.

I have osteopenia and have cracked three vertebrae.  Niacin is connected to osteoporosis! Do talk to your nutritionist and doctor about supplementing with B vitamins.  Blood tests don't reveal the amount of vitamins stored inside cells.  The blood is a transportation system and can reflect vitamins absorbed from food eaten in the previous twenty-four to forty-eight hours.  Those "normal limits" are based on minimum amounts required to prevent disease, not levels for optimal health.   Keep us posted on your progress.   B Vitamins: Functions and Uses in Medicine https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9662251/ Association of dietary niacin intake with osteoporosis in the postmenopausal women in the US: NHANES 2007–2018 https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11835798/ Clinical trial: B vitamins improve health in patients with coeliac disease living on a gluten-free diet https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19154566/   Nutritional Imbalances in Adult Celiac Patients Following a Gluten-Free Diet https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8398893/ Nutritional Consequences of Celiac Disease and Gluten-Free Diet https://www.mdpi.com/2036-7422/15/4/61 Simplifying the B Complex: How Vitamins B6 and B9 Modulate One Carbon Metabolism in Cancer and Beyond https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9609401/

Thank you so much for the clarification! Yes to these questions: Have you consulted dietician?  Have you been checked for nutritional deficiencies?  Osteoporosis? Thyroid? Anemia?  Do you take any supplements, or vitamins? I’m within healthy range for nutritional tests, thyroid and am not anemic. I do have osteopenia. I don’t take any medications, and the dietician was actually a nutritionist (not sure if that is the same thing) recommended by my physician at the time to better understand gluten free eating.    I almost wish the gluten exposure had triggered something, so at least I’d know what’s going on. So confusing!    Many thanks!
