New Saliva Test- Any Info?

I heard a lecture last week from Dr. Thomas O'Bryan at Denver's Celiac Support Group. He talked about a brand new Saliva test that will measure gluten sensitivity. Have any of you heard about this? I bought a kit, since I was 3 weeks gluten free, and he said it was accurate if you have been gluten free for less than 4-6 weeks.

I sent in my sample, but I am wondering if any of you have heard of the test? It is posted at theDr.Com.

Thanks for your information.

I am very interested in using the saliva test for my daughter and grandson. Where can I obtain the kit and/or information regarding

this?

Thank you

I heard something about this in a lecture, too. Is this the one that tests deamidated (sp?) gliadin? I also heard it is supposed to be highly accurate.

Does anybody know where you get the test from and how much it costs? I would be interested in taking it!

The test can be ordered at orders@theDr.com .

The website is theDr.com and the phone number is 1-877-GLUTEN-1.

It is called the Gluten Sensitivity Screen and tests for Deamidated Gliadin Antibodies (IgA, IgM) and Transglutaminase Antibodies (IgA, IgM).

Through the kit, you send in 4 mL of saliva.

I sent my test in about 3 weeks ago, and I am still waiting for the results.

The kit was $125.

They recommend being gluten free for less than 4-6 weeks for the results to be accurate.

Ok, first I went to the website and saw it was a company, so then I headed over to good ol' Pub Med to find some real scientific research on the subject.

Good news! Most studies show that while the saliva test isn't quite as sensitive as a blood test, it has been found several times over to be a reliable indicator of antigens. Let me know how your test turns out. I'm curious...if I can be 3 weeks gluten free...am I still in the ok time-range to run to my doctor and have a blood test done?? That would be cool!

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
