Requesting A College Transcript

i had a job interview on Friday and within 10 minutes of leaving, i got a call from the interviewer asking to provide a copy of my college transcript. i rushed home to call the college and find out what could be done on short notice but they had closed early due to snow. i've since faxed a request for them to fax my transcript to the employer but i'm not sure if they will. i'm going to call the college first thing tomorrow morning and see what my options are...i live 2 hours away so i'll drive there if need be but i'm hoping one of my family members can just pick it up and fax it for me.

with the holidays falling smack in the middle of the next 2 weeks, it doesn't leave much time for them to do all their checks and whatever they need to make me an offer...the position will potentially start the Monday following New Years...so i need to get the transcript ASAP.

does anyone know what the policies are on getting an unofficial copy of a transcript? i'm not sure if it matters but it's a community college.

i know i'll have a definite answer in 12 hours but i'm just so anxious! i have been looking for a job for months now and my unemployment was put on hold 8 weeks ago. i have almost no money in my bank account, i'm going nuts and really don't want anything to hold up this potential job offer!!

You should be able to print an unofficial transcript off of your student site (you know where you have all of your information) and also request one from there. It takes a few days to get an official one and they mail it to the people or give it to you in a sealed envelope. I have never heard of an official transcript being faxed (since it wouldn't be sealed). Also, you have t pay for it (unless you get x amount free). I always tell them that it is in the mail and offer an unofficial one for the time being.

Good luck!

the employer will accept an unofficial one...i just don't know if the college will fax it or let a family member pick it up. i don't want to drive all the way there if i don't have to. i did check the account access on their website but it's only for current students so no luck there.

I agree...if your college has a website you can log into to access your grades, you can print an unofficial copy yourself. However, if you request an official copy, it might cost you money depending on how fast you want it shipped. Some colleges charge no matter what and don't offer overnight, other colleges will send it for free and only charge you for faster shipping. I have one college I went to that's so low-tech that you have to fax them your credit card number and they only ship regular mail. I have another college I went to that I can print online or request a transcript online and they only charge for an overnight mail for a fee. So it all depends.

The college should let you do either. Contact the Registrar's Office this morning and your potential employer could have it later today. It sure isn't good driving weather here right now, I am also Upstate, so glad I got most of what needed doing done. Good luck with the position it would be a great way to start the new year.

the woman at the registrars office must have been in the Christmas spirit because she agreed to fax my transcript! (she said they don't normally do that but she would if an unofficial copy would be ok.)

now i'm just waiting for the employer to call me back...the guy i interviewed with on Friday said he'd call later this morning.

There are other Celiac genes. HLA DQ 2 and HLA DQ 8 show up in people from Northern European descent.   People of Mediterranean descent have HLA DQ 7.  People of Asian descent have HLA DQ 9.   There's other Indigenous populations that have other HLA genes that code for Celiac disease.   Are you still having symptoms?   What do you include in your diet?  Are you vegetarian? Are you taking any prescription medication?  Omeprazole?  Metformin?   Do you have anemia?  Thyroid problems? Are you taking any vitamins or herbal supplements?

There are eight essential B vitamins.  They are all water soluble.  Any excess of B vitamins is easily excreted by the kidneys.   Thiamine is Vitamin B 1.  Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  Benfotiamine and TTFD are forms of Thiamine that the body can utilize very easily.   The form of Thiamine in the supplements you mentioned is Thiamine Mononitrate, a form that the body does not absorb well and does not utilize well.  Only about thirty percent of the amount on the label is actually absorbed in the small intestine.  Less than that can actually be used by the body.  Manufacturers add thiamine mononitrate to their products because it's cheap and shelf-stable.  Thiamine and other B vitamins break down when exposed to light and heat and over time.  Thiamine Mononitrate is a form that does not break down over time sitting on a shelf waiting for someone to buy them.  What makes Thiamine Mononitrate shelf stable makes it difficult for the body to turn into a useable form.  In fact, it takes more thiamine to turn it into a useable form.   Gastrointestinal Beriberi is a localized shortage of Thiamine in the gastrointestinal tract.  High carbohydrate meals can result in gastrointestinal symptoms of Gastric Beriberi.  Fiber is a type of carbohydrate.  So, high fiber/carbohydrate snacks could trigger Gastric Beriberi.   Since blood tests for Thiamine and other B vitamins are so inaccurate, the World Health Organization recommends trying Thiamine and looking for health improvement because it's safe and nontoxic.
