Well I spent the night at my sister's to see my parents who are visiting from out of town. I was worried about CC in her kitchen or someone's feelings getting hurt if I made a request, but my family was so awesome and supportive! :D

They made sure they did every little thing per my instructions and asked lots of questions to make sure they got it right. Despite using my sister's cookware and my dad leaving toast crumbs all over the kitchen, I did not get sick! I had been so nervous going over there but everything went much better than I expected.

We're supposed to go back tomorrow. I bought gluten-free ingredients to make a gluten-free cake for my son so I could eat some too, but now I have the flu and don't have the energy to bake. We'll just have to buy a regular one and I'll bake his gluten-free cake next week. I know he won't mind. I'm gargling like crazy and putting H2O2 in my ears regularly to try and kill this thing. The last thing I want is to miss my son's birthday party tomorrow! First it was the snow, now this. I really wanted to see my parents for more than one day before they leave, and I'm really sad! :(

That's wonderful! Wish my family was half as supportive.

I am mounting an assault and gaining troops so to speak in this behalf since many in my family has this same condition. It just takes a lot of finegaling meanwhile for them to get it and be convinced its worthwhile and necessary.

Meanwhile....I am hoping your gargle doesn't have (grain based) alcohol in it. You are just using salt water, right? Various anti catahral herbs (not tinctures) can also help as well as the usual chicken soup with lots of onions, garlic and cooked veggies...

The gargle was just salt water. And I used hydrogen peroxide once (diluted, of course.)

The belated xmas dinner was fabulous last night! It was 100% gluten free. I must have my family under some spell because they forgot to buy rolls! haha We even had gluten-free gravy. My brother-in-law-to-be did an amazing job with the potato starch!! I haven't had gravy in almost a decade!

I was too sick to bake a gluten-free cake, so we bought him one at the store and I had some soy egg nog for desert. I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. I got to pig out on Lay's potato chips all day, and my sister and I baked sweet potato & beet chips in the oven. I think maybe I got a tiny bit of residue off her baking sheets because I forgot to ask her to line them with foil, but I didn't actually get really sick...the beets are just passing through a little faster than they should be. I can't say it was for her lack of trying to be gluten-free, though! totally my fault.

I think after this I won't feel so nervous eating at other peoples' houses. It is actually possible. :)

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
