Test Results: Transglutaminase?

Entero lab results:

"Interpretation of Fecal Antitissue Transglutaminase IgA: You have an

autoimmune reaction to the human enzyme tissue transglutaminase,

secondary to dietary gluten sensitivity."

Can anybody tell me what transglutaminase is, and what it has to do with gluten intolerance?

An example: the ttg2-test is the most commonly used ordinary blood test for celiac nowadays.

There are some more tests, by the way.

The old almost similar test is the EMA test, and the ttg-test is belived to test almost the same thing, but it is much easier to do in the lab.

Enterolab's ttg test is not exactly the same test because it tests for ttg in feces, but it is designed to pick up early reactions to gluten, as opposed to the ordinary blood tests for ttg, which are designed to only be positive when tehre is visible damage to the villi in the small intestine.

In Dermatitis Herpetiformis, ttg3 is the responsible antibody, and in gluten ataxia, ttg6 is responsible.

You can google for tissue transglutaminase, there should be zillions of hits for that.
