Waiting On Biopsy

hello,

I have a simple question here that may have already been answered and I have just not found it yet on the site. But if I receieved news after a blood test from my doctor that I may have celiac disease, and i have to wait for possibly two weeks to get a biopsy....am I supposed to get going on a gluten free diet right away. I read somewhere that I should not be gluten free to ensure an accurate test result..I am just wondering what steps I should take over the next couple of weeks waiting for the biopsy results..

thanks

Follow your normal diet (including gluten) in order not to get false results. 2 weeks is not long time so just be a little patient. Hope everything goes as you wish.

Do keep to your full gluten diet. Make sure even if the endoscopy comes out negative that you give the diet a good strict try for at least 3 months after it is done. You don't have to wait for the results appointment to get started on the diet. You have come to a great place to find out what you need to do. You can use this time getting ready by getting a new toaster and eating up the gluten food while you research what you can eat that is safe. Welcome and ask any questions you need to.

:D revenwoodglass your message was so welcoming for the new member, and now I am reading mine and it sounds so rude.....lol....I was at work having my boss checking on me every 5 minutes.....

Hardly rude just short concise and to the point. I was up at 4am twiddling my thumbs again today so I have lots of extra hours in my day to be longwinded.

thanks for the advice....I guess in the end just waiting for the dang biopsy is more stressfull then getting prepared for this life changing experience. I just want to know so I can get after this diet!!!!!!

thanks again

I wasn’t clear, glucagon and gadolinium were intravenous. I drank about 5 cups of the prep during 45 minutes. I feel very tired now, probably partly because I was nervous, and partly because I had to fast for 6 hours beforehand and wasn’t very hungry when I got home.

That seems at lot of solution to have put threw you when you already have bowel issues , I will phone them tomorrow because it's sorbitol I have reactions too, thankyou for the input how do you feel now ? I'm not sure I can keep still for that long with my back issues either unfortunately I didn't know it could take that long 😕

The solution I had to drink contained sorbitol and mannitol. I was in the MRI, lying on my back, for about 40 minutes. I was given glucagon partway through, and a gadolinium contrast agent. After I got home there was some diarrhea from the prep solution.
