Glue Seal On Planter's Nuts?

Here's an annoying question: does one who is very sensitive need to worry about the seal on my can of Planter's nuts? It sure looks like a glue and I wonder if it has gluten? Lately, when I open their cans I can see the sealant and it's kind of flaky.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Do you seem to be having CC issues? I don't know what the glue is derived from but they do now make a nut mix with rolled oats. I personally don't tolerate Planters nuts, I am fine with the gluten-free nuts that Wegmans puts out so I know it is not a general nut issue.

I would think it highly unlikely that Planters woud use one of the top 8 allergens on their product. But, I don't have a supporting link for my thoughts.

Yes, I am having an ongoing issue now for about 3 weeks after feeling so well for so long! I haven't had any trouble with Planter's and I've been eating them daily for over a year. It's probably something else, but, if I get a minute, I'll call them and report back.

If you eat them daily perhaps you might want to stop for a couple of weeks, see if things resolve and then add them back in and see what happens. Go over everything that may have changed in the last 3 or 4 weeks, are you using a different shampoo or conditioner, soap, lotion, have you been working on art projects, have you got pets eating gluten food, if you take scripts did you get a refill of anything, binders can change and on generic drugs they can change at any time with no notice, any thing that may be different. Sometimes it isn't always something we eat and sometimes it isn't always gluten. That said most of us do recognize a glutening since for many it comes with such a distinct pattern of symptoms. It can be hard though to figure out what is getting us.

Yes, I know, it can be so hard to figure out. Over the years I've learned to take the saying "If you hear hoofbeats, think horses" seriously when it comes to gluten because my reactions are so specific. I easily distinguish them from an IBSish reaction. That said, I now include the notion of "if it isn't gluten,it's something that acts exactly like it."

The only new thing is this little goober, black lab but we've now gotten the food down to gluten-free, although I'll go back and check that Suave and Fructis shampoo is gluten-free still. And Tom's of Maine toothpaste (now bought out by Colgate- boo hoo).

Gluten is a bit of a wild card in my room at school where I work with kids diagnosed with emotional disabilities and behavioral issues. They all protect me, but it can become a bit of a gluten-fest in there sometimes...sigh.

Just a thought.....I was sure I was feeding my dog a gluten-free dog food. We're using California Naturals Lamb and Rice formula. I verified with the company that their ingredients are gluten-free. But, when I tested it using the ELISA EZ Gluten test, it came back positive. Hmmm. I called the company again and turns out it's manufactured on lines shared with gluten. I'm guessing this is pretty common with dog foods.

So, now I'm searching for a guaranteed gluten-free dog food. If anyone knows of one, I'd love to hear! My pup LOVES to lick. And, he LOVES to play with his slobbered up toys. I'm trying Natural Balance next. I talked to them and they say they thoroughly sterilize their lines before running their allergen free formulas. We'll see.

I use Orijen which is totally grain free and have also used Innova Evo. My pets seem to thrive on the grain free foods and even though they do seem expensive at first I've found they don't eat as much. It seems to satisfy their hunger better.

      It can take longer than 6 months for antibodies to drop to the normal range,  My DGP IgA took a few years as I got stricter and stricter about being gluten free  But having symptoms again could also mean you’re getting some gluten in your diet.

      Hi, I just had my 6 month check after being diagnosed Celiac 6 months ago.  All of my panel numbers were normal except: Deamidated Gliadin Abs, IgA (It is 31 with high being over 30)  I have also been having symptoms again. Am I not actually being as careful as I think I am or does it take longer than 6 months for this particular test to come back down?  I can't get ahold of my doctor this week as she is out.     Thank you!

      That is very strange, because it looks to me like two very different test results, but for the same test! It's definitely time to contact your doctor for clarity on this.
