Finally Treating Candida

I have written on here several times about having candida. When I first found out, I was in denial. I didn't want to deal with it. I have finally decided to start taking the medicine my Doctor prescribed for me becasue I'm so miserable all the time. Anyway, on Monday, I'm going to start taking the generic for Diflucan for 30 days, and I'm also going to take Natren Healthy Trinity Probiotics along with it. I have never taken probiotics for very longbefore becasue they always made me feel bloated. I'm just wondering what to expect. Am I going to feel wosrse before I feel better? I can never get many answers out of my Doctor, she always says, "everything SHOULD be FINE". Yeah Right. I haven't had many good days since the whole Celiac Disease thing a year ago now. My life is defined as BC and AC - before Celiac and after Celiac. I was such a DIFFERENT person before Celiac. Ok.....my pity party is over. Thanks!!

Hi Lexi,

I hope you are doing OK on your med's for Candida. I have studied Candida quiet a bit since I am susceptible to yeast infections, but I have never asked to be tested for Candida. You are lucky to have a doctor who will even consider Candida, let alone actually diagnose it.

Hang in there - life does get better after a while "AC"!

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
