Teeth Stained

I had my teeth cleaned three weeks ago and they did an awesome job. The hygenist used some kind of sand-blasting technique and my teeth, especially the bottom ones, never looked better. Now they are getting stained again.

Is this another fun aspect of celiac? Come on, they are already chipped and pitted!

I don't know if there is a link to stains and celiac, but I do believe enamal problems and cavities can go along with it. Do you drink coffee, tea or soda? The first two can stain your teeth. Soda has got to be one of the worse things for your teeth. The acid in the soda can wear down the enamal. I have a yellowish tint always to my teeth despite how well they clean them. I don't event think bleaching would help, although I have never tried. I believe that my tooth discoloration was caused by getting too much floride. Also repeated antibiotic use can discolor teeth. This happened to my boys. When they were first seen that was the first thing they asked me. That does polish off and now their teeth are good and white. However I am disturbed that my oldest has eight fillings allready and the youngest has four. I have them brush twice a day. I never had a cavity or a filling until I was around 32.

Edit: PS do you think that because your teeth are already pitted that they get stained eaiser from stuff getting into them? Just a thought.

You might get some info on the "oil pulling" thread under gab/chat.

Sometimes it is just the aging process.....

I'm trying the oil pulling and it seems to be helping OR I'm imagining it is!

I am 44 and it seems like my teeth are starting to fall apart. I just had tooth replaced-only $2500 and it was considered cosmetic! Never mind the fact I couldn't chew on one side for 9 months.

I don't have pitting except on my back molars but, I'm sure they look bad too!

A friend of mine is in the bar trade most of his life and has never heard of lines being mixed for different type of beers and ciders. Better to stick with cans.

Thanks very much for confirming my suspicion @Scott Adams! That helps a lot because I'm really trying to track down and get rid of these sources of cross-contact and so I'm going to just rule out the draft ciders and hope that helps. Also @Rogol72 its nice to hear you haven't had a problem on that side of the pond - draft cider lines being used for cider only certainly sounds like the right way to do it, but I think that must not always be practiced over here!

I didn't ask a doctor about this actually. I did ask several doctors a long time ago and they told me gluten has nothing to do with hashimoto's. One of them told me to do a gluten challenge to test for celiac, but at the time I was in graduate school so couldn't afford to be even more ill than I was. If you have the symptoms, I really don't advise you to do a gluten challenge. It messed me up mentally and physically for months. At the same time, I benefitted from doing the challenge in the sense that it convinced me that all my symptoms were truly from gluten - even stuff like insomnia! So now I am terrified to eat gluten, whereas before I would have a little once in a while and not notice anything dramatic.

I am in a similar situation where I can't feasibly do a gluten challenge but have all the symptoms and I have 2 celiac genes. I'm curious if your doctor advised you to eat as if you had a diagnosis or if they were more dismissive about it.

Negative, although I had most of the symptoms of celiac disease. I now eat as if I had a diagnosis.
