the aussies are working on a vaccine that may cure celiac. personally i am not to convinced that a vaccine could really do a whole lot but the docs probably know something i know not. Open Original Shared Link

Way to go Dr Tye-Din! I would love to eat a good old cheeseburger again or a corned beef sandwich.

Per another source, the concept:

"Jason is working with Dr Robert P Anderson. His submission focussed on the development of a coeliac vaccine that would target the disease-causing T cells that are reacting to the toxic fragments of gluten, and make them gluten

what about people with gluten intolerance and not celiac?

what about people with gluten intolerance and not celiac?

I'm not sure a vaccine would help in that regard, but researchers are looking at different areas:

Transglutaminase inhibitors: To inhibit conversion of gluten to more toxic form

Oral proteases: To destroy toxic fragments in the gut or during baking process

Zonulin inhibitors: To reduce passage of gluten across gut lining

There is hope!

it seems like most of the issue is that the gluten crosses past the gut to the blood, im not sure if the GI issues are caused in the track or because gluten gets to the blood though

Personally, I am asymptomatic - I have no gut issues. I would eat gluten in a heartbeat if not for the worry about my auto-immune system. So the vaccine would be great for me although I don't think that would be the answer for everyone.

ya, honestly i wouldnt care if i still would get the stomach issues as long as i knew it wasnt harming me as much, of course i would love to get rid of the GI issues but anything is better at this point (i also think my natural medicine guy could help resolve some of the GI issues with allergy/sensitivity clearing, its a weird method but it works).

honestly now that i think about it if i had to choose one i probably would get rid of the GI issues so that accidental stuff doesnt hit me so hard

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?

Thankyou so much for your words. Its a hard battle when a supposed well known hospital whose celiac " specialist " has down played me because my colon looks fine and put it in my medical and so pcp doesn't take seriously. In their eyes we all carry that gene.Im having alot of bad days trying to be positive because of it.
