Van's Gluten-free Waffles?

This is going to seem like an odd question, but have they changed their recipe lately? The last few boxes I've bought of both the gluten-free blueberry and gluten-free apple-cinnamon taste different - like real waffles - and aren't crumbly like the other (dozens) boxes I've bought of theirs. I'm actually scared to eat them.

Ideas?

<GASP> :o

You get apple cinnamon waffles????.....WHERE?????

Seriously, though.....sounds like the waffles you were getting previously were maybe old?....or freezer-burnt? My Van's waffles have never been crumbly.

I love the apple cinnamon waffles! They are the best. My ultra picky son will even eat them! I got mine at Whole Foods.

Hrm. Interesting. I can't tell if I'm getting glutened, b/c my body doesn't react right away, but maybe you're right. Guess I'll try them for a week and see how things go :) Thanks!

Oh, and I get mine at Publix - they have a large gluten-free product selection :)

I buy the Apple Cinnamon and Blueberry ones from Publix all the time. Both my daughters eat one for breakfast every day (pretty much) so we go through lots! I would say half are crumbly and half are not. I have always thought it was because I bought an old package. Yummy either way. And I am so trying them with peanut butter and marmalade now!

I love Vans Waffles with applesauce and cinnamon on them.

We tried the Flax ones and they were awful. Both of us took 2 bites, looked at each other and threw them out!!!! They were very dry and crumbly even with toppings on.

They may want to also eliminate other possible causes for your symptoms/issues and are doing additional tests.  Here is info about blood tests for celiac disease--if positive an endoscopy where biopsies of your intestinal villi are taken to confirm is the typical follow up.

In the Europe the new protocol for making a celiac disease diagnosis in children is if their tTg-IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) levels are 10 times or above the positive level for celiac disease--and you are above that level. According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! May I ask why you've had so many past tTg-IgA tests done, and many of them seem to have been done 3 times during short time intervals?

@JettaGirl, "Coeliac" is the British spelling of "celiac". Same disease.

This may sound ridiculous but is this supposed to say Celiacs? I looked up Coeliacs because you never know, there’s a lot of diseases related to a disease that they come up with similar names for. It’s probably meant to say Celiacs but I just wanted to confirm.

I was told it was to see how much damage has been caused. But just told CT with contrast not any other name for it.
