Other Intolerances Acquired After Over-exposure?

Recently I had someone tell me that those who have have food intolerances and allergies are more likely to also develop other food intolerances if over -exposed.

I was joking how since realizing I was gluten intolerant, the majority of things in my kitchen besides fruits/veggies/and meats, were rice bread, rice cakes, rice chex, rice milk, rice, rice flour, etc.

She told me that if you have a food intolerance you are predisposed to developing more intolerances if you eat alot of said food.

anyone experience this? can anyone verify this?

I had that experience with corn...

When I stopped eating gluten I substituted with corn chips, corn cakes (like rice cakes, but made of corn), corn bread, corn flakes, popcorn, polenta, grits... plus traces of corn are in EVERYTHING. It started giving me the same kind of abdominal pain as gluten :( Right now I'm slowly adding traces back in, but I don't dare eat something like chips and salsa.

I would be SAD to lose rice... and eggs. Ugh! What would I do without those two foods? :blink:

      I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

      Thankyou so much for your words.Its a hard battle when a supposed well known hospital whose celiac " specialist " has down played me because my colon looks fine and put it in my medical and so pcp doesn't take seriously. In their eyes we all carry that gene.Im having alot of bad days trying to be positive because of it.
