Do These Test Results Indicate Celiac?

I had an endoscopy on May 12 and the G.I. doc said everything looked normal although for various reasons I have no confidence in him. I started a gluten-free diet on May 13th and improved dramatically in a couple of days. I have been mostly gluten-free since then with a couple of episodes of purposely indulging in gluten to see if I would get a reaction (and I did!). Anyway, I got the Celiac panel results from blood drawn 3 wks after starting the gluten-free diet. Still waiting to see a Celiac specialist for interpretation... Do these results indicate Celiac? Especially after being gluten-free for 3 weeks before the test.

Iga serum 140 mg/dl

TTG Antibody, IgA: 6

HLA DQ2: Positive

HLA DQ8: Negative

I also just submitted a stool sample to Enterolab and hopefully that'll help determine if I truly have a gluten-related disorder.

BTW - You can check my other posts for my medical history with thyroid and pituitary disorder which I assume are related.

Thanks you so much for your help! I'm so anxious to get to the bottom of this 15yr+ mystery...

Jim

Do you know the reference ranges for the tests done? Different labs have different normal values.

No. It's odd because I have the lab sheet which shows ranges for other tests but not for these. I've seen on some threads here that some docs consider my ttg ab iga of 6 as positive. I would expect that result would have been higher if I hadn't been gluten-free for 3 weeks at the time of the test.

It can take longer than 6 months for antibodies to drop to the normal range,  My DGP IgA took a few years as I got stricter and stricter about being gluten free  But having symptoms again could also mean you’re getting some gluten in your diet.

Hi, I just had my 6 month check after being diagnosed Celiac 6 months ago.  All of my panel numbers were normal except: Deamidated Gliadin Abs, IgA (It is 31 with high being over 30)  I have also been having symptoms again. Am I not actually being as careful as I think I am or does it take longer than 6 months for this particular test to come back down?  I can't get ahold of my doctor this week as she is out.     Thank you!

That is very strange, because it looks to me like two very different test results, but for the same test! It's definitely time to contact your doctor for clarity on this.

Scott, thank you SO MUCH for this!! She has been through so much in the last three years as we've tried to track down answers. This language will definitely help me help her to reframe.
