I am trying to find gluten-free ice cream cones. I found some online, but with shipping included, they would be ridiculously expensive. Does anyone know of any stores in Maine, New Hampshire, or New Brunswick that would carry them?

Thanks!

Matt

St. Louis area Whole Foods has "Let's Do Organic" gluten free cones. Check at a Whole Foods in your area.

Matt,

I am sure I saw the ice cream cones mentioned in the previous post at the health food store on Congress St in Portsmouth, NH near Tracy Anello's gluten free cafe.

Wow! Have any of you guys tried Aneillo's gluten-free cafe? I've been wanting to but still gun-shy.. Right now I've been mysteriously glutened, so it won't be in the near future but I'm SO glad it's there! What ice creams do you eat? (Hope I'm not hijacking the thread-don't mean to...)

Lisa,

Anello's is a celiac's dream! Everything is safe to eat. We enjoyed the sandwiches on asiago rolls and the desserts...too numerous to mention. You owe it to yourself to stop in when you are feeling better.

Most ice creams are safe (with the exception of things like cookie dough)...I stick with the brands that have the fewest ingredients...Breyers for example. There are many safe ice creams out there, but I always read the label.

Bev,

Thank you so much! I WILL try it when I get brave again; I'm one of those unbelievably super-sensitive celiacs and it's no fun- sometimes I'd just rather not eat at all.

You are from my Greek grandmother and grandfather's home after Greece- I love Manchester.

Matt,

Do you like to cook? I forgot to mention I went crazy last year looking for cones. I think another poster on this forum mentioned making your own cones with a Pizzelle maker. I can send you the recipe if you like. I found the pizzelle maker on line at Amazon. It takes some practice but worked out well and it only takes a few ingredients.

Bev

I just found some also at stop and shop in Amesbury, MA (about half hr. south of Kittery) but maybe if there is a stop and shop near you they would carry it also.

Stop & Shop in Brooklyn, NY, also has gluten free sugar cocoa ice cream cones, by Goldbaum's.

Goldbaum's gluten free sugar cones are delicious. Can't believe I stumbled upon them in the Demoulas' Market Basket for only $2.50. They taste and look just like the regular gluten sugar cones. I don't know if they are widely available. I purchased them in the North Andover, MA store today. This Market Basket seemed to have a wide variety of gluten free products compared to my usual store. The whole line of Bell and Evans chicken products were there, as well as an incredible array of Bob's Red Mill products.

Someone mentioned making your own and I just tried that for the first time recently. My dh gave me a gift certificate to William Sonoma for Christmas so I used it to buy a waffle cone maker. Took a little practice and experimenting, but they came out really well. Kids were thrilled. I've seen cones for sale, but they are always so expensive and this really didn't take much time. I was really surprised at how well they turned out and how easy it was once I got the hang of it.

Yes, I, too, have osteoporosis from years of malabsorption, too.  Thiamine and magnesium are what keep the calcium in place in the bones.  If one is low in magnesium, boron, selenium, zinc, copper, and other trace minerals, ones bone heath can suffer.  We need more than just calcium and Vitamin D for strong bones.  Riboflavin B 2, Folate B 9 and Pyridoxine B 6 also contribute to bone formation and strength.   Have you had your thyroid checked?  The thyroid is important to bone health as well.  The thyroid uses lots of thiamine, so a poorly functioning thyroid will affect bone heath.

That sounds so very likely in my case! I will absolutely ask my doctor on my next bone check coming up in March... Thanks a lot!

Calcium levels as measured in the blood can be quite deceiving as the body will rob calcium from the bones to meet demands for it by other bodily functions. Also, supplementing with calcium can be counterproductive as it tends to raise gut pH and decrease absorption. More often than not, the problem is poor absorption to begin with rather than deficiency of intake amounts in the diet. Calcium needs an acidic environment to be absorbed. This is why so many people on PPIs develop osteoporosis. The PPIs raise gut pH. And some people have high gut PH for other reasons. Low pH equates to a more acidic environment whereas high pH equates to a more basic (less acidic) environment.

Kind thanks for all this valuable information! Since my Folate was/is low and also my Calcium, there IS a chance I am low in B vitamins... My doctor only measured the first two, oh and Zinc as I has twisted her arm and guess what, that was mega low too. So who knows, until I get myself tested properly, what else I am deficient in... I did a hair mineral test recently and it said to avoid All sources of Calcium. But this is confusing for me as my Ca is so low and I have osteoporosis because of this. It is my Adjusted Ca that is on the higher side and shouldn't be. So am not sure why the mineral test showed high Ca (well, it was medium in the test but relative to my lowish Magnesium, also via hair sample, it was high I was told). But anyway, thanks again for the VitB download, I will look into this most certainly!

Hello good afternoon, I was wondering if anyone has ever brought their anti-allergy pills? I have been wanting to use their Cetirizine HCI 10mg. They are called HealthA2Z and distributed by Allegiant Health.I’m also Asthmatic and these allergies are terrible for me but I also want to be sure they don’t have any sort of gluten compound.    I have tried calling them but to no avail. Has anyone ever used them? If so, did you had any problems or no problems at all?    thank you
