Boston's Pizza Not Dedicated!

We were out shopping and I remembered the discussion over Bostons. We went in and asked and we were told the crust is gluten free but they are baked with the other pizzas! I was so disappointed. I live in iowa and am originally from the east. I miss my pizza! Bostons is not the place.

At the Boston's I visit in McKinney, TX, they have told me that the gluten free crust is prepared away from everything else, they are cooked on separate/designated gluten free pans, and that yes, they are baked in the same oven, but not while any regular pizzas are in there.

I can see how super-sensitive types wouldn't want to take the risk. I'm not super sensitive and I have not gotten sick from eating there.

We are a sensitive bunch, but we didn't have any problems with Boston's. We really don't eat out much at all, maybe once every couple of months or so. I figure we are always taking a risk when eating out, but it's a chance we take for a splurge and a much needed night out!

I've eaten hot wings that were cookes in the pizza oven without incident. I don't know about Boston's, but most ovens are an open at both ends design and the pizzas go through on movable chain belts. I'd eat one.

I doubt if we're ever going to see a designated gluten-free pizza restaraunt.

I blame the local restaurant for not explaining.. and being rude about it... after reading all of your experiences I emailed the main office and asked them..I know its not a dedicated restaurant but to hear them explain it to us... the Iowa restaurant did a wonderful scare job on me.. now I feel better.. here is the letter:

Thank you for your email. I understand the concerns you have regarding the preparation of pizza with the gluten free crust. I want to assure you that we take this specific allergy very seriously and we have taken several steps to ensure your family

      hi, i want to say thank you to you and @trents . after 2 phone calls to my GI, her office called me back to tell me that a blood test was “unnecessary” and that we should “follow the gold standard” and since my biopsy did not indicate celiac, to follow the no dairy and sucraid diet. i luckily have expendable income and made an appt for the labcorp blood t...

      Thoughts? Non-endoscopic Celiac diagnosis in two year old

      Okay that is really good to know. So with that being positive and the other being high it makes sense she diagnosed her even without the endoscopy. So glad we caught it early. She had so many symptoms though that to me it was clear something was wrong. yeah I think we had better test us and the other kids as well.

      One doctor suggested it, but then seemed irritated when I asked follow-up questions. Oh well—

      @GlorietaKaro, your respiratory reactions to gluten make me wonder if there might also be an allergic (anaphylaxis) component at work here.

      hi, i want to say thank you to you and @trents   . after 2 phone calls to my GI, her office called me back to tell me that a blood test was “unnecessary” and that we should “follow the gold standard” and since my biopsy did not indicate celiac, to follow the no dairy and sucraid diet. i luckily have expendable income and made an appt for the labcorp blood test that day. i just got my results back and it indicates celiac disease i think 😭   im honestly happy bc now i KNOW and i can go gluten free. and i am SO MAD at this doctor for dismissing me for a simple blood test that wouldn’t have cost her anything !!!!!!!!!!! im sorry, im so emotional right now, i have been sick my whole life and never knew why, i feel so much better already   my results from labcorp:   Celiac Ab tTG TIgA w/Rflx Test Current Result and Flag Previous Result and Date Units Reference Interval t-Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA 01 28 High U/mL 0-3 Negative 0 - 3 Weak Positive 4 - 10 Positive >10 Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) has been identified as the endomysial antigen. Studies have demonstrated that endomysial IgA antibodies have over 99% specificity for gluten sensitive enteropathy. Immunoglobulin A, Qn, Serum 01 245 mg/dL 87-352
