Uk Celiac Needs Help On Western Usa

Hi everyone!

My girlfriend was diagnosed as having celiac diesease last year and is coping pretty well with her gluten-free diet. In September this year we are going on a 2 week flydrive holiday to the USA and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience of gluten free eating out / shopping in these areas.

LA (Anaheim)

Palm Springs

Lake Havasu

Grand Canyon (Tusayan)

Las Vegas

Yosemite

San Fransico

We've been to the USA quite a lot before but this will be out first trip since she has known about needing to eat gluten free food. Can anyone recommend any restaurants in these sort of places where we could eat that do gluten free food? Also what about shops that sell gluten free food and snacks that we could get hold of for on the road? Oh and is anyone knows any sort of snacks you can get from gas stations that are gluten free, just in case we need to get them this would be a great help.

I know its a lot of things to ask for but any help you can give would be really appriciated.

Regards,

Andy Roberts

It's actually for San Diego area, but I expect a lot of these restaurants are throughout California. As for gas stations, a lot of them these days have fruit. Lay's plain potato chips are gluten-free, not very good for you though.

Lol... I really wish that San Diego site was significantly useful for the rest of CA. :-) Alas...

It's certainly a place to start, of course, though PF Chang's "fast food" Pei Wei doesn't have many locations in CA - very far and few in between. There are, of course, a number of PF Chang's in various locations (including SF and the LA area). (You can go to their homepage to find locations. Same thing applies to Outback.)

You mention Anaheim, so I'm assuming Disney; they're very accomodating at the park.

We also have a number of health food stores that will have foods you can have including Trader Joe's, Wild Oats, and Whole Foods. (Again, their homepages have locations all over the place...)

It can take longer than 6 months for antibodies to drop to the normal range,  My DGP IgA took a few years as I got stricter and stricter about being gluten free  But having symptoms again could also mean you’re getting some gluten in your diet.

Hi, I just had my 6 month check after being diagnosed Celiac 6 months ago.  All of my panel numbers were normal except: Deamidated Gliadin Abs, IgA (It is 31 with high being over 30)  I have also been having symptoms again. Am I not actually being as careful as I think I am or does it take longer than 6 months for this particular test to come back down?  I can't get ahold of my doctor this week as she is out.     Thank you!

That is very strange, because it looks to me like two very different test results, but for the same test! It's definitely time to contact your doctor for clarity on this.

Scott, thank you SO MUCH for this!! She has been through so much in the last three years as we've tried to track down answers. This language will definitely help me help her to reframe.
