Sour Cream - Really Gluten Free?

I searched for this answer and think they were dated.

Sour Cream is the one thing I avoid because I haven't researched it and had found modified food starch on a label.

I would like to start using it on baked potatoes but.........

Can someone tell me of name brands that I can feel safe about?

Do you have a confirmation letter to share?

I can't find the Daisy site to find out myself.

If sour cream would be as easy to read as the Daisy cottage cheese (what....3 ingredients?) I wouldn't have to ask.

Most modified food starch in the U.S. is made from corn. If it is made from wheat, it has to be listed, by law.

Daisy sour cream is in fact gluten-free. I found it on their website:

Is Daisy Brand Sour Cream gluten-free?

Yes, Daisy Sour Cream is gluten-free. Our Daisy Brand Regular and Daisy Brand Light Sour Cream products contain no starch.

OH THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!!

I had a pea salad on friday and didn't think I got glutened from the sour cream - it was the HAM!

Oh was that terrible!

I'm remaking the salad with the 'safe' stuff and also my mom is making it for a church luncheon to accommodate the gluten free attendants.

Now I can have my baked potatoes with bacon and onion and daisy sour cream!

THAT has been a craving!

13 days and one mishap! (lesson learned)

I looked up all the sour creams in the Clan Thompson Food Smart List and all the basic, non-flavored sour creams were gluten-free. One "Fat Free" however, was listed as Maybe not gluten-free (yellow flag). Several sour creams "with onion" were listed as NOT gluten-free. Generally I have never questioned pure sour cream, plain, full fat, and I've not gotten glutened from it yet.

I usually just read the label and like one other member said, if made in USA and has Modified Food Starch I don't worry too much, but if there is a choice I pick one without starch of any kind.

      Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

      I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

      Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
