Hi guys,

I'm a celiac and I'm really am curious as to what the medical explanation is for the tiredness and weakness i'm feeling when I eat gluten - showing an unusual lack of energy really! Any wisdom shared would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)

There are probably multiple factors, and I'd guess they would include the effects on the brain, such as the levels of serotonin and melatonin. Then there are the nutrient deficiencies.

Perhaps you'll find some answers here.

I can't really say what the Medical Explination might be, but my thoughts are that when you are eating Gluten your body is trying to fight within itself. It also causes damage to your intestines that doesn't allow your body to absorb the nutrients and vitamins out of food. Just being deficient in vitamins can cause you to be lethargic.

Hope this helps you understand it some, but that was the jist of what my dr told me about it.

Good Luck on the diet and I hope things work out for you.

because your body is having an immune reaction to gluten, and it's attacking itself. Tiring work that, I imagine.

I have a very timid tummy after 13 years of strict gluten free.  If I try to eat like my pals, I burn.

I particularly try to get lots of red meat, mostly beef.  I'm slightly anemic, which isn't uncommon in celiacs.  Red meat is healthy for us and the environment.

I had lyme disease for about 14 years and was also diagnosed with celiac disease about midway through.  I had bad leaky gut food and chemical sensitivity like crazy dental issues I had to go on a really strict diet for 4 years to heal my gut and see a lyme Dr to heal the lyme disease  Both sides of my family are celiac
