Irregular Menstrual Cycle

I have HYPOthryroidism and when i was first diagnosed I was taking Levoxyl. It seemed to work really well and I did not have any side effects.

BUT NOW, my doctor put me on what i am guessing to be generic Levothyroxine. My menstrual cycle has been irregular 2 months in a row. It shows up nearly 1 week late with the absolute worst cramps i've ever had. Plus, i started spotting in between periods. I looked this medication up online and it did say irregular periods was a side effect, I just wanted to know if anyone else had this problem. My doctors are real pains to deal with and they always think they know what's best for me, i know they are going to tell me it's not my meds... but i think it is. Any suggestions or comments?!!?

Hi all,

I am also detected for hypothyrodism, I am a 27 year old female, I am on levothyroxine for about 3 weeks, I see some spotting for the past 4 days, can any one tell me why this is happening? Is it because of levothyroxine, If so will this adjust by itself? I am planning for pregnency, please help me.... anyone!! I am completely scared!!

Thanks in advance,

lucky

Irregular period seems to be a known side effect of the drug you're taking Open Original Shared Link

Also the thyroid plays a part in regulating hormone levels in the body. So the more stable the thyroid levels are the more predictable the menstrual cycle is likely to be.

I asked my cardiologist about stopping vitamins.  He said his tests account for all detectable vitamins from sources other than food.  I only need to stop them for a couple of days.  He has me keep records of meds and vitamins I've ingested over the past 10 days and prior and he does his calculations.

Reply to treats I try and eat to bring up the glucose. Sometime I get up 3 times a night and eat something. I don't think food is the issue. A lot of the food they say should help doesn't.  Many mornings my level is 59 and I feel sick, sometimes for hours. It has been recommended I go to an Endocrinologist.

Many years ago yes, after eating and going to bed, apparently my esophagus filled with food that my body rejected, the esophagus would lay against the Heart sack (pericardium?) and the heart would respond by becoming arrhythmic. That went away with the strict diet.
