Do You Know Of An Iron Pill Free Of Gluten, Dairy, Soy, & Corn?

The good news is that I finally got my lab tests back from my doctor's office. My B12 levels are way up after taking sublinguals. My Vitamin D and my Vitamin A are low, but the biggest issue is that my red blood cell count is really low. No wonder I'm so exhausted all the time!

I need an iron pill pronto. Only issue is that right now I'm reacting to dairy, soy & corn, as well as gluten. I'm on a very modified diet.

Suggestions?

Didn't doc give you a script for big big doses of iron? My percription ones were gluten-free. Don't remember the brand, pharmacy told me brand & I called. Not sure what the other ingredients are.

No, I got the labs back in the mail. Do you think I need to make an apt?

I purchased iron pills at the Vitamin Shoppe store. If there is not a store near you might be on line. 28 mg iron,

vitamin Shoppe labeled, specifically says right on bottle NO yeast, corn, wheat, sugar, salt, soy, dairy, citrus, fish, preservatives, artificial colors or flavors. While th e label didn't say gluten-free this was the best I could find. I have not had any problems.

Oh man, I sympathize! I've been trying to find corn free vitamins for forever!

As an aside, I've come across a lot of 'corn free' vitamins that are rather like many 'gluten free' things. They have corn derived ingredients, and assume that if any corn is left, it's too little to react to. But of course, some of us still do. :-P

This is information about corn free vitamins that the corn allergy gal has receiver from other corn allergy folk. I'm not sure what of these are free of the other allergens, but as corn is the hardest to avoid, I figured I'd give you these as somewhere to check out, anyway. :-)

* "I called the 800 number of SOLGAR, which has a widespread good reputation (including by Whole Foods and vitamin store specialists), and I said that while I recognize that their label says "no corn", I would simply like to confirm that it is not a corn-derived Vitamin C. The woman reiterated that they had no corn, and then I insisted that she confirm. She fumbled and said, wait a minute, and was gone a long time. When she returned, she said that the C is derived from corn, but that it's fermented, and - you guessed it - "there's no corn left" after the processing."

* Corn Allergens"SHS has a vitamin powder that is corn free and when my daughter's dietician checked (jan 2004) the vits/mins were also not corn derived. It is called Phlexy-vits. I think it was $36 for 30 packets. I would put it into her formula. www.shsna.com under Metabolic products"

* "Peak Advantage is a great one. It says: NO sugar, yeast, corn, gluten, lactose, artificial color or preservatives. I've been taking it for quite awhile now with no problems. Their website is: www.yourvitalhealth.com and they are manufactured in Scottsdale az.85258 by Vital Formulations, inc."

* "Solaray Cal-Mag Citrate with Vitamin D is free of gluten, corn and sulfites. Confirmed by the company on 01/31/05. The citric acid is made from lemons/limes."

* "On Lame Advertisement.com's website they post that the Nature's Way B-12 sublingual is free of corn. I contacted Nature's Way and they said that the fructose is derived from corn."

HOpe that helps!

Hi, I'm at work so I can't check the bottle but I take Garden of Life's food-based iron. It won't hurt your stomach (you can't even take it without food) and it's given me a ton of energy. I too have low iron and red blood cells, but seem to be turning this around.

I know it's definitely gluten, soy and dairy free, and pretty certain it's corn free as well.

Does anyone know what this is about? According to wikipedia, iron supplements come in two different forms, one prescribed by a doctor and the other from the grocery store. And:

These 2 categories should not be confused.

You can try Freeda Vitamins (Open Original Shared Link). They have an iron vitamin listed under "Minerals".

Per their website, they are free of just about everything, except the good stuff!

No Aluminum No Dyes No Meat No Sulfates

No Artificial colors No Eggs No Milk No Sulfites

No Artificial Flavors No Fish No Preservatives No Talc

No Aspartame No Gelatin No Casein No Wheat

No Corn No Gluten No Starch No Whey

No Dextrose No Lactose No Sugar No Yeast

My whole family takes a variety of them and we've never had any issues. Hope this helps.

Usually, in my experience, the doc can prescribe much higher doses of iron than you can get in one OTC vitamin. That said , of course, you could take 4 or whatever OTC to equal the prescription. The thought with Celiac is that, if onlt part of your intestines can absorb a mineral or vitamin, give big doses so the healthy parts have plenty to absorb.

Thanks, Kareng. In any case, I have a doctor's appointment for Monday. We'll see if he can give me supplements that are free from corn, soy, dairy, and gluten. :)

Thanks, everyone! This list is a really *great* resource! If my doctor can't give me iron supplements that don't make me sick, I know I have a lot of options.

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?

Thankyou so much for your words. Its a hard battle when a supposed well known hospital whose celiac " specialist " has down played me because my colon looks fine and put it in my medical and so pcp doesn't take seriously. In their eyes we all carry that gene.Im having alot of bad days trying to be positive because of it.

Your experience is both shocking and critically important for the community to hear, underscoring the terrifying reality that cross-contamination can extend into the most unexpected and invasive medical devices. It is absolutely devastating that you had to endure six months of sickness and ultimately sustain permanent vision loss because a doctor dismissed your legitimate, life-altering condition. Your relentless research and advocacy, from discovering the gluten in MMA acrylic to finding a compassionate prosthodontist, is a testament to your strength in a system that often fails celiac patients. While the scientific and medical consensus is that gluten cannot be absorbed through the skin or eyes (as the molecules are too large to pass through these barriers), your story highlights a terrifying gray area: what about a substance *permanently implanted inside the body*, where it could potentially shed microparticles or cause a localized immune reaction? Your powerful warning about acrylic lenses and the drastic difference with the silicone alternative is invaluable information. Thank you for sharing your harrowing journey and the specific, severe neurological symptoms you endure; it is a stark reminder that celiac is a systemic disease, and your advocacy is undoubtedly saving others from similar trauma.
