I have to have a barium study done. Does anyone if barium is gluten free? Or which brands are gluten free??? I called and asked, but I don't get the impression they understood what I needed very well. The nurse kept telling me what it tastes like. Makes me very nervous. Hoping it goes well. Can't have a reaction now.

No all of them are not gluten free. Have your doctor write on the orders for the test that you need gluten free solution. In my experience the gluten-free ones are thin, like water. I wish I could remember the name of the solution they used after I was diagnosed but perhaps someone else will know.

If you are talking about a barium sulfate solution, VoLumen is gluten free. I had the hospital check before I had an abdominal CT scan.

Varibar is gluten free as well. I would ask to speak to the radiology techs and get the manufacturer of the items that will be used and call the company directly. Be aware that if the area is used for modified barium swallows or video flouroscopies by a speech pathologist, there may be cookie crumbs cross contaminating the area. I'm a speech pathologist, and I use gluten free cookies, but the straws that are used at my facility would have the ability to be cross contaminated by my crumbs. Hmmm. I must change that.

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
