Heel Pain

I have noticed since I have been doing the gluten challenge that I have had quite a bit of heel pain when I stand on them.

It is usually more pronounced when I first stand on them then lessens as I walk around more.

Anyone else get this?

Thanks,

Jen

I have a couple of thoughts, but guessing not knowing more information:

1. If you have Celiac, and not absorbing, you body will go for food where it can find it. Your bottom, the heels of your feet or other fatty parts, can feed your starving body. I have had a lifetime of suffering from "noassital".

2. Not gluten related, but do you where flip flops? They are awful for your feet, and can generate the type of pain you described.

3. Fibromyalgia is associated with unchecked Celiac Disease.

4. Are you taking cholesterol lowering meds?

I used to have horrible foot/heel/Achilles tendon pain. It was so bad- I could barely walk. It was much worse in the AM or anytime I had been off my feet for a while. My PCP told me it was plantar fasciitis and sent me to physical therapy. Didn't really help. I was taking a generic statin for cholesterol and the pain was greatly reduced when I quit taking the prescription. I have since found out it is a side effect of the Rx and the Rx was not gluten free. The pain is now completely gone since going gluten free. Good luck with your challenge.

No I don't wear flipflops (anything in between my toes makes me nauseaus) also, I can only tolerate certain types of shoes due to nerve issues.

No medication at all.

It could well be a new intolerance developing.  Does your diet incorporate pure oats i.e. those safe for coeliac consumption?  I find I can only tolerate a certain amount, same goes for dairy in fact, then I start to get gastric symptoms.   Or have you started consuming a new type of gluten-free bread, or more gluten-free bread than normal, that might contain oats?  I remember reading a post on this forum from a woman who had started to eat a lot of loaves made with oat flour and her coeliac symptoms kicked off again.  I am sure you know this, but some coeliacs cannot tolerate pure oats.

I eat a lot of dairy but its intermittent is this burning so I would assume it would happen all the time. Plus I have been tested for lactose intolerance  etc and I am fine and the other symptoms of that I don't get. As a aside  my dad died last month after a long illness so I wonder if the stress of that might be a influence as a bodily reaction to stress.

You should be fine.  You may start feeling better within a few days.  Someone who is very low in thiamine may notice improvement within hours.   Did you get the NeuroMag  or another magnesium supplement?
