Need A Soy And Gluten Free Lipstick

I will be going to my DD's wedding soon and am all set with all makeup except for lipstick. I never wear it in my everyday life so I have no idea what is safe or not. I would prefer something I can pick up at a dept store or my local drugstore if that is possible. Anyone have any safe suggestions?

Ravenwood,

I do wear it daily and I use Lancome- it's pricey. But Ecco Bella is another safe one (not so cheap either) The Lancome is long-wearing and worth it though; I've used it for years. Le Rouge Absolu, L'absolu Rouge and Color Design lines of Lancome are all safe.(not positive about the soy, although I don't eat, it I'm not as fierce about bits of it...)

Have a nice wedding time!

it took me a WHILE to figure out IMHO...

On other forums I've used, "DD" stands for "dear daughter." "DS" is "dear son," "DMIL" is "Dear Mother-in-Law," etc.

What DOES "IMHO" mean? Patti, thank you for that reminder of Afterglow; I'd like to try that, too.

I went out and got a Estee Lauder one yesterday since noplace local sells the Lancome. The only questionable item is the tocepherol but I will call them today before I use it. Love the color and am hoping the 't' is not soy derived but since my soy issues are not as severe as gluten ones I may try it even if it is. I also went to the Everyday Minerals site (found them when I did a board search) and they had a nice color on sale for $3.99 so I got that and an eyeshadow and a blush sample pack. Since I ordered a full size product the blush samples were free and the total order with shipping was only about $12. I know the Everyday Minerals is going to be safe and between the two I at least know I will have something to avoid 'naked lips' at the event. I can't wait for the wedding!!!!!!

Thanks for your replies.

Can you post what Estee Lauder tells you? I'd love to try some of their lipsticks.

Hi Ravenwoodglass,

Afterglow lipsticks are gluten and soy free. You can order them at their on-line website.

I will, I have called them but they need to ask the chemist. I expect to hear from them in about 2 weeks or less. Not a quick answer but I would rather they were through than quick. I got the Golden Violet and do hope it is safe for me as it is so pretty.

Thanks! I emailed and called them, but no response. You got further than I did! I like two colors of their lipstick, but haven't bought them because I could not get any info. I hope you hear back from them. Thanks again!

Last month I contacted Estee Lauder by phone and found out that most of their lipsticks are gluten free but I am out of town and don't have the information with me. As I remember only the ones that have the gold tops had gluten. The ones with the black tops don't.

Hi all I’ve been celiac for 4 years now, I’ve done pretty well to avoid it thus far. Last night I took the wrong pizza out of the freezer and ate the whole lot!! The non gluten and gluten pizza boxes are both very similar.   2 hours later I was throwing up violently on my hands and knees over the loo.  .horrendous stomach pains,  My hair was wet from sweat every part of my body was wet. What an awful experience, just had a bad headache today  fortunately.    Is their any products/pills anyone takes if they have realised they have just been glutened to make the symptoms a little less worse.  thanks

Yes, do take your B Complex with Benfotiamine or Thiamax.  Thiamine interacts with each of the other B vitamins in the B Complex to make energy and enzymes, so best to take them together earlier in your day.  Taking them too close to bedtime can keep you too energetic to go to sleep.   The Life Extension Benfotiamine with Thiamine is Benfotiamine and Thiamine Hydrochloride, another form of thiamine the body likes.  The Thiamine HCl just helps the Benfotiamine work better.   Read the label for how many milligrams are in them.  The Mega Benfotiamine is 250 mgs.  Another Benfothiamine has 100 mgs.  You might want to start with the 100 mg.    I like to take Thiamax in the morning with a B Complex at breakfast.  I take the Benfotiamine with another meal.  You can take your multivitamin with Benfotiamine at lunch.   Add a magnesium supplement, too.  Thiamine needs magnesium to make some important enzymes.  Life Extension makes Neuro-Mag, Magnesium Threonate, which is really beneficial.  (Don't take Magnesium Oxide.  It's not absorbed well, instead it pulls water into the digestive tract and is used to relieve constipation.)  I'm not a big fan of multivitamins because they don't always dissolve well in our intestines, and give people a false sense of security.  (There's videos on how to test how well your multivitamin dissolves.).  Multivitamins don't prevent deficiencies and aren't strong enough to correct deficiencies.   I'm happy you are trying Thiamax and Benfotiamine!  Keep us posted on your progress!  I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.

I looked further into Thiamax Vitamin B1 by objective nutrients and read all the great reviews. I think I will give this a try. I noticed only possible side affect is possibly the first week so body adjusts. Life Extensions carries Benfotiamine with Thiamine and the mega one you mentioned. Not sure if both in one is better or seperate. some reviews state a laxative affect as side affect. SHould I take with my super B complex or just these 2 and multivitamin? I will do further research but I appreciate the wonderful explanation you provided on Thiamine.

There are other Celiac genes. HLA DQ 2 and HLA DQ 8 show up in people from Northern European descent.   People of Mediterranean descent have HLA DQ 7.  People of Asian descent have HLA DQ 9.   There's other Indigenous populations that have other HLA genes that code for Celiac disease.   Are you still having symptoms?   What do you include in your diet?  Are you vegetarian? Are you taking any prescription medication?  Omeprazole?  Metformin?   Do you have anemia?  Thyroid problems? Are you taking any vitamins or herbal supplements?
