Sjogren's Syndrome

I have occasional dry eyes which sometimes feel gritty or burning, difficulty swallowing and talking (sometimes),

Dry, burning throat, Dental decay, Joint pain, Digestive difficulties, Dry nose and skin, and fatigue.

All of this led me to put Sjogren's Syndrome on the list of things that could be "wrong with me".

My diagnosis has become Celiac Disease, but I am still going to push to be tested for Sjogren's syndrome or to

explore this a possible additional diagnosis. When I learend that Sjogren's could be related to Celiac I felt

at least some sense of recognition that I was thinking in the correct direction in my research into my various

symptoms.

I hope that I do not have sjogren's syndrome, but I am going to check with an eye doctor about the dry eyes and that gritty, burning feeling that I sometimes have.

I had dry eyes, mouth, etc. for years. I was diagnosed by an opthalmologist with 'dry eye' syndrome years ago and prescribed artificial tears, which I used frequently throughout the day. I drank liquids constantly, because my mouth was dry. I didn't hear about Sjogren's Disease until after I was diagnosed with celiac and started reading about other diseases correlated with celiac disease. Miraculously (or perhaps because I adamantly abstained from gluten for the past 8 years) I no longer have dry eyes. I occasionally use eye drops when I'm tired or my eyes are irritated by wind in my face. I wish I could remember which Opthalmologist diagnosed me. I would tell him the proper name for 'dry eye' syndrome and what causes it.

They may want to also eliminate other possible causes for your symptoms/issues and are doing additional tests.  Here is info about blood tests for celiac disease--if positive an endoscopy where biopsies of your intestinal villi are taken to confirm is the typical follow up.

In the Europe the new protocol for making a celiac disease diagnosis in children is if their tTg-IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) levels are 10 times or above the positive level for celiac disease--and you are above that level. According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! May I ask why you've had so many past tTg-IgA tests done, and many of them seem to have been done 3 times during short time intervals?

@JettaGirl, "Coeliac" is the British spelling of "celiac". Same disease.

This may sound ridiculous but is this supposed to say Celiacs? I looked up Coeliacs because you never know, there’s a lot of diseases related to a disease that they come up with similar names for. It’s probably meant to say Celiacs but I just wanted to confirm.

I was told it was to see how much damage has been caused. But just told CT with contrast not any other name for it.
