Can Anybody Offer Some Opinion - My Last 30 Day Symptom Progression

Hello, I am a male, 26 and all of a sudden I just couldn't eat hardly anything anymore one day after 2 months of working out everyday and eating about 2000 to 2500 calories of healthy food. My diet did consist of alot of protein shakes and wheat(4 pieces bread a day, 1 wrap a day usually, what crackers), also had milk alot.

My progression of symptoms has been

Days 1-8 Delayed Gastric Emptying - Minor Chest Discomfort as result of feeling stuffed and full fast, not alot of gas from what I remember.

Days 9-18 - More and sometimes worse Gastric Emptying and worse tightness and discomfort in chest and where I started to get bad gas(primarily burps that lasted sometimes for hours and hours)

Days 19-26- persistent was the gastric emptying but what also started as week went on a gnawing rumbling in stomach followed by lots of vigorous gas, sometimes feeling lightheaded and dizzy.

Days 27-30 - More bloating and stomach issues then chest for a couple days, stopped eating gluten and bloating seems to have tapered down but chest pains are back and tons and tons of gas throught each cycle of bloating and chest pain.

Mostly consuming liquids, most days between 250 and 400ish cals, couple higher, none over 700.

Have lost more then 10% of bodyweight.

My Liver test was - ast 69 1-40(reference) alt 121 0-55(reference) - red blood count 5.89 4.10 - 5.60

I also tested negative for H. Pylori

Any comments or advice would be great. I am getting worried, I have been to doctors twice and tommorow am going to call around and get

an appointment with a Gastro doc who takes uninsured asap.

Thanks friends.

You do sound like you could be one of us. Do not stop eating gluten until you are done with testing. Celiac can impact the liver which would account for the results on your liver panel. After you are done with all testing do give the diet a good strict trial no matter what the results.

I actually did stop eating gluten and my bloating seemed to subside but chest tightness and blockage and inability to eat still there. Now I did go to a private lab for a food allergy blood test that included gluten and this was same day i decided to stop so those would still be there but if and when I get some type of test like endoscopy can I just eat gluten the day before or is it something you just have to eat till then everyday? How much do I have to eat of it etc?

Thanks. I been searching for everything, I even think it may be candida overgrowth, who knows, ugh..

Thanks for your time.

If you are going for an endo you need to stay on a gluten diet until that is done. Even then there is a risk of a false negative. Also you need to know that celiac and gluten intolerance are not allergies and will not show up in an allergy panel. Some of us do have both allergies and intolerance though.

It is good that you saw some relief in the bloating. It does take time to heal though and some problems may have causes that are independant of celiac, if you do have it or GI. Do give the diet a good strict try after you are done with testing. It is a good idea to drop dairy and soy also at first and then add them back in one at a time when you are feeing better. When you do the diet trial it is a good idea to go with whole unprocessed foods and first and do check all meds and supplements and be careful about cross contamination.

I hope you get some answers and are feeling better soon.

Thanks for another reply. So I saw the GI today and he didn't feel an endo was neccessary. He said its most likely post infection symptoms.

Said to stop taking the nature stuff I was taking and just take a strong PPI once in morning and see him in a month if im better, I guess it's supposed to go away

by itself.

Now, I came home and look up post infection symptoms in google and came across something that is similar to H. Pylori, it is called Giardiasis.

Which is also an infection and the symptoms are like almost 100% to mine.

Diarrhea

Gas or flatulence

Greasy stools that tend to float

Stomach cramps

Upset stomach or nausea

Loss of Appetite , Sever Weight Loss

In addition to these the tight chest as this supposedly mimics the symptoms of pancreas problems, gall bladder, etc.

So now I think this is my leading candidate.

So since I am not gonna get the endoscopy I think ill stay gluten free. He did order a bunch of blood tests including a complete celiac disease panel.

I don't wanna get this blood done too soon cause the last 2 days I have and yesterday cause I haven't eaten much and fasted before it got really woozy and dizzy so its got my nerves wrecked a little bout doing blood :)

Thanks for your time...

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
