Hello,

I was diagnose with Hashimoto's about 7 months ago, currently taking 120 mg of Armour.

Two months ago I started a program for weight loss, cardio- and weight training along with a diet, which happen to be "low gluten" I immediately started to feel better, just those days that I happened to eat cream of wheat I would feel under the weather. I would like to get tested for Celiac, but I read that you have to go back to full gluten.I would like to know for how long I should eat gluten for my test to be more accurate.

Thanks.

I was told to eat gluten "normally" for 2 weeks prior to my bloodwork but if you feel better off of it, I think you have diagnosed yourself. I say this from experience being that most doctors will brush you off saying its nothing and the rest don't know anything about it.

One of the reasons of getting tested also is my five kids.

Some do have some symptoms of gluten intolerance, and my oldest has Aspergers which many people claim going on gluten-free diet will help him.

I'm looking forward to eat gluten full time again, if test fails I'm sure I will be back for more questions

Thanks for your help :)

MEANT TO SAY LOOKING FORWARD TO EAT GLUTEN FREE AGAIN, :)

Hi campbell7.

I have heard six or more weeks, probably more would be better, and to eat three to four slices of bread a day.

i understand wanting to have a diagnosis- it took me 2 years, and a closer look at my test, a genetic test, and a case of DH to finally motivate me to go gluten free-

but as someone with Celiac, Graves, AND Hashimoto's- i would like to say- that you should seriously think hard within yourself if you need the diagnosis to go gluten free- (which of course would involve the gluten challenge) because Gluten aggravates those Hashimoto's antibodies...

but then again, i know plenty of people with Hashi who still eat gluten... so i guess it's really up to you

Well I started eating more gluten yesterday and it did not go good at all.

Worst of all was discovering that my daughter who I had my suspicions of intolerance shows all the mental related behaviors (she is almost 7 yrs. old and has many delayed milestones) as the matter of fact, this year seems like she lost the ability of learning new words (I homeschool her).

I'm taking her to the doctor next week for testing.

Thanks for your coments

Yes, I, too, have osteoporosis from years of malabsorption, too.  Thiamine and magnesium are what keep the calcium in place in the bones.  If one is low in magnesium, boron, selenium, zinc, copper, and other trace minerals, ones bone heath can suffer.  We need more than just calcium and Vitamin D for strong bones.  Riboflavin B 2, Folate B 9 and Pyridoxine B 6 also contribute to bone formation and strength.   Have you had your thyroid checked?  The thyroid is important to bone health as well.  The thyroid uses lots of thiamine, so a poorly functioning thyroid will affect bone heath.

That sounds so very likely in my case! I will absolutely ask my doctor on my next bone check coming up in March... Thanks a lot!

Calcium levels as measured in the blood can be quite deceiving as the body will rob calcium from the bones to meet demands for it by other bodily functions. Also, supplementing with calcium can be counterproductive as it tends to raise gut pH and decrease absorption. More often than not, the problem is poor absorption to begin with rather than deficiency of intake amounts in the diet. Calcium needs an acidic environment to be absorbed. This is why so many people on PPIs develop osteoporosis. The PPIs raise gut pH. And some people have high gut PH for other reasons. Low pH equates to a more acidic environment whereas high pH equates to a more basic (less acidic) environment.

Kind thanks for all this valuable information! Since my Folate was/is low and also my Calcium, there IS a chance I am low in B vitamins... My doctor only measured the first two, oh and Zinc as I has twisted her arm and guess what, that was mega low too. So who knows, until I get myself tested properly, what else I am deficient in... I did a hair mineral test recently and it said to avoid All sources of Calcium. But this is confusing for me as my Ca is so low and I have osteoporosis because of this. It is my Adjusted Ca that is on the higher side and shouldn't be. So am not sure why the mineral test showed high Ca (well, it was medium in the test but relative to my lowish Magnesium, also via hair sample, it was high I was told). But anyway, thanks again for the VitB download, I will look into this most certainly!

Hello good afternoon, I was wondering if anyone has ever brought their anti-allergy pills? I have been wanting to use their Cetirizine HCI 10mg. They are called HealthA2Z and distributed by Allegiant Health.I’m also Asthmatic and these allergies are terrible for me but I also want to be sure they don’t have any sort of gluten compound.    I have tried calling them but to no avail. Has anyone ever used them? If so, did you had any problems or no problems at all?    thank you
