Really Interfering With My Life Now...could This Be Celiac?

For almost the past year now, I will occasionally (about once a month) have a day where I get up as normal, eat breakfast and then within 10 minutes I have horrible stomach cramping with bowel movements. Then I will feel fine for about 5-10 minutes until another wave of horrible cramps washes over me. In between all of this I am trying to get dressed for work, get my child ready for school. I will drive, white knuckled and bent over to work. Work is next to impossible because I am a healthcare provider. Leaving the room every 5 minutes so I can run to the bathroom with cramping and diarrhea is horrible to say the least.

I have extensive endometriosis and it has been found on my colon + I am hypothyroid. I met with a new GI MD and he felt this was a mix of the endo and the IBS and put me on Levbid. The Levbid does seem to control the symptoms somewhat, but not all the way. These episodes are worse now and the last three times have involved vomiting at least once. I am sooo worn out afterwards. The most recent episode came right after I ate two pieces of whole wheat toast with peanut butter.

I would ask your doctor to do a celiac panel. You can ask your regular doctor or the GI. Do not go gluten free until after you have testing done. If your blood tests are positive they usually will want to do an endo. After you are done with all testing you should do a trial of the diet to see if it helps no matter what the results as false negatives are not uncommon. If you are positive on testing then it is advised that all first degree relatives also be tested, that would be your children, brothers and sisters and parents.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
