I Feel Like I Know What It Is Now! Celiac?!?!

Hello- I am completely new to this

(I myself do not have Celiacs, but I am now CONVINCED my fiance does)

and I am looking for some help

His story: Has been having some chest pains since October 2010- ALL doctors diagnose it as GERD, Acid Reflux and/or gastritis.

Of course, he wont do anything about it.. so he keeps eating the same but buys Gavisgon, TUMS, you name it.. if there is an antacid.. he swallows it. Nothing working.

In February, it started to radiate around his ribs to his back.

He was sure his back was messed so has been getting regular massages and chirpractic adjustments. The chiro work seems to alleviate the pain somewhat, but only for the next 12 hrs or so, and its still painful.

These last two weeks- we have been in and out of the ER - this pain DROPS him, he hasn't slept for days on end, and only does sleep once he is so exhausted from the pain, then wakes up in more pain

*I have NEVER seen him cry and he used to ride bulls, etc Ive seen him fall off decks and get up and work*

He was in so much pain, .. ugh it was so hard to watch.

So - all doctors in ER diagnosing as GERD/gastritis, possibly gallstones but none show up on U/Sound.

He has had EKG, MRI, Ultra sounds Xrays, Barium Swallow... a scope scheduled next week.

Blood work and urine = perfect

they cannot figure out what is causing this debilitating pain.

I am SOOOO excited right now - you have NOO Idea!!!

For one week- Greg did this diet called Isagenix -its a weight loss thing somewhat like slim fast with shakes.. but its more healthy in a way.. and it was the ONLY week he felt good- he was sure that maybe this had to do with extra weight and him possibly having a hiatus hernia and that the shakes are easier to digest.

I JUST LOOKED _ THE ISAGENIX IS GLUTEN FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways, I just feel like everything has been pointing us towards going gluten free- hearing from others, its on TV...

Does this sound like going gluten free might help?!

How long does it take to detox yourself from gluten

and oh my gosh- I cannot believe how much stuff has gluten!

So here we go- starting today we are going gluten free

Any tips/adivce would be greatly appreciated!

I am just beside myself with excitement.. I feel like this is it!

Here is my story - lots of stuff for 6 years, lots of tests - all normal - last year spring - pain under my ribs on the right side radiating around back. I was convinced I had gallbladder or liver problems. Extremely sore right side deep in gut. Ultrasound showed nothing - all clear. Cough that wouldn't go away, sore and stiff joints (maybe it isn't the bull riding that made him stiff) gut shut down... I did what you did and started looking myself. 3 days before a colonoscopy, endoscopy, and biopsy (scheduled at the last minute) I went gluten free. In 3 days I felt relief, in 5 days I felt human, now 9 mths later I feel better than I have felt in years. The pain didn't get that bad for me..

It's a definite possibility...and I feel your joy ;)

Your fiance is a lucky man. You may have just discovered his "cure." What does he say to your thoughts now that he is on the shake?

This is really helpful  I had not considered sugar alcohols or inulin as triggers. Thanks for the practical baking tips too color coding and baking G F first makes a lot of sense. Thiamax (TTFD) plus a B-complex, and if you want benfotiamine, the Life Extension formula covers that at ~100 mg.

High fiber can definitely cause sudden GI distress especially if it’s a new addition but accidental gluten exposure can feel similar. Keeping a simple food/symptom log and introducing new gluten-free foods one at a time can really help you spot the pattern. Thanks for asking  I’m mainly looking for gluten-free staples and snacks. Any recommendations for brands or go-to items would be appreciated.

sorry a bit confused so I should take my B complex along with Objective Nutrients Thiamax for TTFD but what about a Benfotiamine to take. The Life extensions contains Benfotiamine and Thiamine together or im confusing myself. I am trying to see if I take Thiamax what should I take for Benfotiamine. Thanks EDITING after further research I see ones water soluble ones fat soluble. So I guess 100MG as you suggested of Life Extension contains Benfotiamine and Thiamine Hydrochloride. and the Objective Nutrients Thiamax contains TTFD.     would work for me.

I put on over 12kg by eating protein with every meal, 3 to 5 times a day. Eggs, Chicken, Tuna, Turkey etc. I stay away from too much red meat as it can be inflammatory. Scott is correct. I've come across a bunch of Coeliac PT's on Tiktok and Instagram. They all say the same thing, the key is getting enough protein and consistency.
