Fruity Pebbles Treats

With the gluten-free Rice Krispies coming out I was excited to make Rice Krispy treats and did so the first day.

While they weren't bad, they were a little less crisp than what I remembered and my husband suggested just making Fruity Pebbles treats instead.

I used the same recipe as for Rice Krispies, but just substituted Fruity Pebbles instead. As a bonus, my kids and I melted 2 chocolate bars and spread them on top, then stuck in the freezer to allow them to completely set.

They turned out really well! My kids said that the 2nd day they tasted even better than they originally had. We'll be making them again soon!

Thanks for posting. I will have to try that. It might be a good pitch in (pot luck) dessert idea, too. Don't imagine they would freeze very well.

Funny thing is that I love cocoa pebbles and my boys like the fruity pebbles. We have made both into bars and noone likes them. Weird.

No we threw all the rest away since everyone hated them. We will buy the Kraft strawberry and chocolate/vanilla swirl marshmallows and use plain gluten free crispy rice cereal (now we can use the new gluten free Rice Krispies :) ) and make flavored treats that way. We love them that way.

Both of my kids said they were softer the 2nd day.

Of course, ours were also under a layer of milk chocolate, which can make anything taste good. =)

Welcome to the forum, @annamarie6655! Are the muscle spasms and joint aches a new pattern of reaction to gluten or have you experienced these in the past? Concerning DeGiorno's "gluten-free" pizza, we have had many reports from celiac.com members of gluten reactions from consuming this product. I believe it is one of those "gluten-free" products that is made from wheat (speaking of the crust component) that has been processed in such a way as to remove most of the gluten. The FDA regs allow food companies to use the claim "gluten-free" as long as the product contains no more than 20ppm of gluten. This works for most celiacs but not for those on the more sensitive end of the spectrum. There is another industry standard known as "Certified Gluten-Free" that is stricter, requiring no more than 10ppm of gluten. Certified Gluten-Free products use the "GFCO" logo. Concerning the salad dressing, could you list the ingredients in another post or link it? There are certain other ingredients besides gluten commonly used in gluten-free manufactured food items to give them acceptable textures that give a lot of celiacs problems.

Hello, so I was diagnosed with Celiacs about 8 months ago. After being diagnosed, I have been trying very hard to maintain a completely gluten-free (and celiac safe) diet.  Two of the main times I had a huge reaction, it was from: - gluten-free Digiorno Pizza w Pepperoni - Kraft Zesty Italian Dressing (this was in canada if that changes anything) Both are marked as gluten-free. Following eating these items, I had a severe bout of diarrhea, uncontrollable and heavy muscle spasms throughout my whole body, and aching throughout every joint.   If these are both gluten-free, why would I be reacting to them? Should I be worried about a separate allergy?  In regards to the muscle spasms, should I follow up with someone about that?

Hey! I’m recently gluten free and yes I really struggle with alcohol now. I haven’t really drank in 2 months as it just made me feel awful the next day in terms of stomach ache mainly. I’ve had a couple of glasses of white wine here and there (mainly low sulphate) but every time it gives me a gut ache. I think it’s because but guy is so damaged from my journey to discovering my gluten intolerance and hopefully this will improve but honestly I’m just not bothered about having a drink now. I can’t even touch Prosecco or champagne I think the bubbles really upset me!

I just wanted to share my support for you. Rant away. We all know that, and have experiences like that at some point. I am sorry for that very unpleasant, and emotionally isolating reminder of your medical condition. Which always is exacerbated by the hunger. I will admit many of my family friends, and coworkers found it easier to exclude me than to accommodate me. I also have to be very strict with cross contamination so in hindsight they did me a favor.  The sting however can often still be unearthed when I read experiences like yours.  I am sorry you had that occur. I hope you, and the coworkers can find the easy more accommodating experiences again after this unfortunate incident. Best wishes.
