Celiac is is far cry from anything to celebrate but the ~Scavenger~hunt for Gluten Free foods does have the element of thrill to it when I make a new discovery of allowed foodage. Lays stackers and all the possibilities with Gluten-Free Betty Crocker mixes [brownies,choc chip cookies,peanut butter brownies made from cookie mix, carrot cake & pineapple upside down cakes made from yellow mix], does give me a tiny joy of sorts.

Also tried Udi`s bread toasted with orange marlalade yum, and dug around internet and found site with great recipes: better than any off-the-shelf-glute-free Flour is this "Master Mix Flour" [ 1 cup tapioca flour & 2 C. potato starch or potato flour & 6 Cups white or brown rice flour+Mix and store airtight rubbermade. Also tip for Croutons=with Cean new kitchen scissors cut Gluten free bread into tiny cubes and cover with own mix olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder,, parsley salt pepper on cookie sheet and bake low slow like you would party mix. And my fave is a gluten free Cream Soup Base [1 tsp chicken flavor boullion,2T cornstarch, 1 Cup Milk or rice/coconut/almond Milk, 2 Tb. butter, 1/2 tsp salt, blend and if want as soup add 1 cupwater, & your choice diced cooked chicken , celery, diced mushrroms, drained canned tiny shrimp, and there you have several varieties of Cream Soups for all you campbell sauce recipes over meats and casseroles. I will not Starve going Gluten Free and on the other hand I would live on green beans if that`s what it takes to get better from hideous celiac disease. Terri

Wow! Great ideas! You know, you can also make chex mix gluten-free... Just omit wheat chex and increase rice and corn chex to offset. Use gluten-free worcestershire sauce, Glutino or Snyders gluten-free pretzels, and rice cracker bits instead of bagel bites. Instead of "season salt", I use an organic herb blend called Herby (Frontier Organics, gluten-free). Other than these substitutions, just follow the original chex party mix recipe. It's awesome! And you can serve it at parties and no one's the wiser!

I love finding great gluten-free foods, too! But even more, I love finding ones that totally make a lie out of "you poor thing! That's such a restrictive diet! You have to give up so much!" ... Yeah, right! The only things I've given up are diarrhea, gas, bloating, fatigue, nausea, mood swings.... Ha ha ha!!! :D

It looks sooo good! you could probably use Honey Nut and/ or Cinnamon Chex in place of the Rice or Corn Chex :). Or, of course, there's 'Muddy Buddies' (I'd have to look up the recipe for that one)

(just looked at my boxes of Chex (I got a bunch on sale last week), and some of the boxes have the recipe for Muddy Buddies printed on the side, so here goes)

Muddy Buddies

Prep Time: 15 mins

Start to finish: 15 mins

9 cups Rice, Corn or Chocoalte Chex (or Combination)

1 cup semi- sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup peanut butter

1/4 cup margarine

1 tsp vanilla

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

1. Into large bowl, measure cereal; set aside.

2. in 1- qt microwaveable bowl, microwave choclate chips, peanut butter & butter uncovered on high, 1 minute, stir. Microwave about 30 seconds longer, or until mixture can be stirred smooth. stir in vanilla. Pour mixture over cereal, stirring until evenly coated. Pour into 2- gallon reseable food- storage plastic bag.

3. Addpowdered sugar. seal bag; shake until well coated. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in airtight container in refrigerator [assuming it lasts long enough to get to make it into the refrigerator! :rolleyes::P:D:lol::ph34r::o ]

18 servings (1/2 cup each)

Schar crackers! I love them. They are a bit brittle but taste wonderful. I like Pamela's chocolate chip cookies, too.

I just found gluten free dairy free cheese. YEAH! I was thinking i would never be able to have pizza or cheese on a sandwich again. Yeah Tofutti! I like the scavenger hunt mindset!

Daiya brand is the favorite type of Gluten-free Casein-free cheese for most everyone I know. It's soy free too, which Tofutti isn't. It's what places like Mellow Mushroom use commercially when they tout vegan cheese options.

Vons carries them here. THey are also known as Safeway in other parts. Vons actually is starting to carry a lot of gluten free crackers and cookies.

Whenever a recipe calls for bread crumbs I use crushed up Rice Works Gourmet Brown Rice Crisps. I find them at CostCo they are in a blue bag.

I just crush them up and use the crumbs for things like meatloaf, chicken fried steak, stuffed mushrooms, chicken parmesan, meatballs, etc.

They are good alone so you don't need to add much salt, just some pepper or herbs if you want.

I recently discovered "Simplebites Chocolate Chip Mini Cookies" from Pamela's Products at the local Fry's supermarket. They're not cheap, but man, are they delicious! :)

I love finding new gluten free things especially at a normal grocery store. Although, I still have to be careful about that because a couple of times grocery stores I've been to put their gluten free products next to the organic products and I have grabbed those instead of the gluten free ones. But it does seem that more and more grocery stores are carrying gluten free products which is great.

      Hello, no I had to have them re done and then used a liner over the top.  Many dentists are not aware of the celiac effects.  Best of luck.   There is other material, yet, very expensive.

      He is not just a psychiatrist.  He is also a neuroscientist.  And yes, I have already read those studies.   I agree with benfotiamine.  This is short term while glutened/inflammation occurs.  As I had already mentioned, these symptoms no longer exist when this phase passes.  And yes, I know that celiac is a disease of malnutrition.  We are working with a naturopath.

      Thanks for your response.  Everything you mentioned he is and has been doing.  Tobacco is not the same as nicotine.  Nicotine, in the form of a patch, does not cause gastrointestinal irritation.  Smoking does. He is not smoking.  Please do your research before stating false information. Dr. Paul Newhouse has been doing research on nicotine the last 40 years at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

      Im so frustrated and still getting the run around trying to reprove my celiac disease which my past primary ignored for 25 years.I understand that theres a ray of medical that doctors are limited too but not listening and telling the patient ( me) that im not as sensitive as I think and NOT celiac!Correction Mr white coat its not what I think but for cause and affect and past test that are not sticking in my medical records.I get sick violently with foods consumed, not eating the foods will show Im fabulous. After many blood draws and going through doctors I have the HLA- DQ2 positive which I read in a study that Iran conducted that the severity in celiac is in that gene.Im glutenfree and dealing with related issues which core issue of celiac isn't addressed. My skin, right eye, left leg diagestive issues affected. I have high blood pressure because im in pain.Im waisting my time on trying to reprove that Im celiac which is not a disease I want, but unfortunately have.It  has taken over my life personally and professionally. How do I stop getting medically gaslight and get the help needed to bounce back if I ever do bounce back to normal? I thought I was in good care with " celiac specialist " but in her eyes Im good.Im NOT.Sibo positive, IBS, Chronic Fatigue just to name a few and its all related to what I like to call a ghost disease ( celiac) since doctors don't seem to take it seriously.
