Possible Celiac Symptoms?

Im wondering if maybe i have Celiac?

It all started about a year ago when i was have constant stomach noises, like gassy/digesting noises, this seems to have gone to an extent but comes back now and again.

Recently my hair has started to thin, this might not sound off, but i used to have very thick hairy, pretty hairy in general lol. The hair has thinned out alot more on one side of the head.

My eyes have also picked up a problem, they looked strained and glassy, i have water on the bottom eyelids. I also seem to have "floaters" constantly and my eyes seem a bit more sensitive to sunlight.

I dont get diarrhea, but do have very soft smaller stools than i used to.

Recently in the past few weeks i have picked up small random bruises on my legs that come and go out of nowhere.

No one in my immediate family has Celiac so im not sure if its possible for me to randomly pick this up?

Hi and welcome :) Yes, your symptoms sound consistent with celiac. I think it would be worth seeing your doctor and getting tested. Don't go gluten free before the testing though, you need gluten in your system to achieve a positive diagnosis. Don't let the fact no one else in your family has been diagnosed with celiac. You may be the first, but it doesn't mean you're the only one. Most people never find out they have celiac, and sometimes people have no symptoms at all. If your diagnosis is positive, all your immediate family members should be tested also.

You'd be surprised too. The symptoms of celiac are so varied that you may realise you see evidence of celiac in your family members when you do more research.

Your symptoms are consistent with Celiac.

Have you been checked for Thyroid conditions? Hair loss and digestive problems are associated with the thyroid. You should consider testing for Hashimoto's and Graves.

If you decide to go gluten free without testing, ask for your vitamin levels to be tested.

Celiacs are often deficient in A,B,C,D,E,B12,Calcium,Magnesium,Zinc,K, and Iron.

Bruising is associated with deficiencies in C,and K and also with the different kinds of anemia.

The question is are you vitamin deficient? And then why?

Celiac might be your answer.

Consider testing for the conditions associated with Celiac if you can't get Celiac testing done. My Dr. refused to test me for Celiac. Once I went gluten free, I didn't want the test anymore because I would have to eat gluten and there was no way!

However, I did get vitamin levels checked and came up with Low D and then tested positive for Hashimoto's, both of which are associated with Celiac.

I actually had a thyroid test last year when i 1st started getting stomach noises ( i was also having heart palpitations due to sum stress/anxiety, this cleared up months ago) and the test came back fine.

I will arrange an appointment and ask for a test, i just hope they dont think im asking for it due the anxiety i had.

Sounds like a typical case to me.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
