Pain In Foot

Apache

Recommended Posts

Apache Apprentice

Sometimes I get a pain and swelling in my right foot after eating certain things. It always goes from the top of my ankle joint to the top of my foot. Sometimes it hurts so bad that it wakes me up at night. There have been times when just the sheets touching it was excrutiating. It isn't happening is much since I stopped eating wheat and I'm in the process of figuring out what else is causing it. One day I got the same type of pain in my left hand between my thumb and pointer finger.

Does this happen to anybody else? I first thought the pain in my foot may have been gout, but protein doesn't seem to cause it.

I do get pain in my left foot but it sounds a little different that what you get. It's nerve pain in the bottom of my foot that will shoot up my leg. Often it's accompanied by joint pain and a pain and tightness in my neck. I can usually trace this to dairy. It happens on vacation a lot when I decide to have coffee with a little cream, drink a little more wine than usual, and I've usually forgotten to bring my vitamin b supplements with me. So I don't think it's from gluten, but just getting off that very specific formula I need to follow in order to feel healthy.

So, I guess I'd look at vitamin deficiencies, or other foods causing inflammation. Good luck.

It sure sounds like gout to me!

did you do an extensive research on this? there are alot of things that can cuse gout...wine and beer are on the no no list as well as other foods you wouldn't expect. google list of bad food for gout/ list of good food for gout. Try cherry extract pills, cherry juice, see if this helps when you get this type of pain.

google about.com gout diet- what foods to avoid, about.com gout diet- foods to eat.

Just some of the foods that can bring on a gout attack: Turkey, poultry, dark green veggies, food cooked in oil, anchovies, mussels, shrimp, caffine, chocolate, yeast products,soy...just to name a few. Hope this is helpful! good luck... :D

I've been living with Gout since 1996. I recognize the list presented is based on science to some extent, but having studied my body and my episodes of gout flare-ups, once I'm in the flare nothing seems to work to lessen the pain.

I've also worked hard to avoid the no no items (or at least minimize them significantly), and it seemed that it didn't necessarily work for me. Until this week, when diagnosed with Celiac, and also suffering a very painful gout flare did I begin to wonder if there was a relationship. As I said in another post, my first flare with Gout and my body beginning to show symptoms of Celiac happened at about the same time.

My Dad (dead) had Gout, my Mom (alive) has had Fibromyalagia for many years that I really believe is probably undiagnosed Celiac. They share a lot of similar symptoms. Perhaps now she'll go in for testing. I know that they both tried the Atkins diet many years ago and they felt GREAT, just loved bread and pizza and all the other wheat/flour/gluten products of life.

It also sure sounds like gout to me. I would suggest you ask for a bloodwork test that checks your uric acid level.

My daughter developed gout so I have become familiar with it. Hers was caused by a certain medication though...a drug called Lasix which is a diuretic and can cause uric acid crystals to accumulate. Gout will just reoccur at times and can be very painful and incapacitating. They do have a medication available for it if it becomes too troublesome. She does avoid all the foods advised and takes tart cherry concentrate and still it comes back at times and so she now has been placed on a medication for it.

So I really suggest you see a doctor if you continue to have problems with pain and swelling in your foot. At least it would be a bloodtest measuring uric acid levels to either rule out or confirm gout.

Yes. I'd say gout too.

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
