Gluten Sensitivity?

Hi folks. I've had problems with anxiety and random nerve pain throughout my body for 9-10 years. The pain is not constant, but is worse some days than others. I was tested for celiac by a gastroenterologist maybe 6-7 years ago but the result was negative. I was wondering how likely you think gluten sensitivity may be? Can it affect (only) the nervous system this way? Has anyone else had the same experience, or heard of someone who has?

Well, testing has advance in recent years. I would consider retesting. And after that, try the full diet and see if you have symptom relief.

I agree. Even though you were negative 6 yrs ago you could show up positive now. I would get new tests and make sure they do a full panel before going gluten-free. All the tests listed here: Open Original Shared Link

Yes, nerve issues a very much a part of it. This is what first appeared to me as bothersome symptoms. It doesn't hurt to retest. If tests are still negative then maybe try a gluten-free diet anyway. I had to do alot of supplementing. My body was pretty damaged, so the point of bone loss and I was not absorbing the proper nutrients from foods alone. I have been gluten-free for 6 months, vit supplementing for 3 months. For me, it was the extra vits that have made a difference in my recovery. The process is slow.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
