Accidentally Glutened Myself

Had some pork chops in the freezer that were already in a marinade (that I had put them in prior to freezing) that I wanted to use up. I completely forgot that I put them in the marinade pre-celiac diagnosis and ASSUMED the marinade was ok. NOT. I normally don't have GI issues after ingesting gluten but boy oh boy, did I have a reaction this time. I spent the majority of my evening in the bathroom and had a lovely migraine to boot.

I DEFINITELY won't be making THAT mistake again....<grumble grumble>......

Oh no! Hope you are feeling better soon.

I have a few things left in my freezer from pre-diagnosis but I'm only feeding it to the family as they are not all gluten free at this point (using the pans dedicated to gluteny foods to cook it.) But it has caught me short a couple of times...trying to remember if I can eat it or not!

I'm so sorry. That's so frustrating. I've had it happen to me too. Don't beat yourself up too badly.

Yeah, I can relate to that. sigh...

When I first went gluten free I bought myself some cookies. Newman's I think, they look like Oreos. The package says WHEAT FREE in big letters. So I ate a few. Only later, after I had a reaction, did I read the much smaller letters that said "not gluten free."

Well, if nothing else, it was a confirmation that it wasn't all in my head about being sensitive to gluten. ;) (barley malt was what got me)

Yeah, but if you are anything like me, you have plenty more mistakes to make. LOL It is a learning process. I wish you the best.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
