Suspicious Email?

I just got an email from "Delphi forums", inviting me to click on a link to join others of their forums. At the bottom, it said if I did not want any other emails from them I should click on the link that would lead me here so I could delete my account. They used my screen name in this email, and this is the only place I use this name.

I didn't click on any of their links of course, but I was just wondering if this was legit, or did someone somehow get into this site and is now sending these suspicious emails to others too.

I just got an email from "Delphi forums", inviting me to click on a link to join others of their forums. At the bottom, it said if I did not want any other emails from them I should click on the link that would lead me here so I could delete my account. They used my screen name in this email, and this is the only place I use this name.

Delphi is a legitimate forum. I don't think they would send emails like that. I wonder if someone on thier Celiac forum is trying to recruit from here? I know the moderators over there.. Would you mind copying the email & pming me? I'll ask them?

Has anyone else had this?

It sounds like you created an account there at some point. Cut and paste the header of the email here, as there is no way to know how or why you got it without more info.

I deleted it, but wouldn't you know, I got another one! There's not much to it. I didn't "click to recieve pictures". But there is an address at the bottom where they put the link to bring me here on the first one. This one didn't have a link, just told me to come here.

I'm so sorry. It is exactly as Karen said - I joined a corn allergy forum there months ago, using the same screen name I use here. (I must have had brainfog that day because I never do that!) And I didn't go back to that one after a while because the format is a pain in the neck.

Please accept my apology. I didn't mean to give you a scare.

I did that in a brain fog with Facebook. I think I keyed the email in wrong. I have an account with my name on it over there that I can't access to delete it. :)

Whew! Glad that's all it was.

This is why I love this site....I am soooo not alone !!!LOL

It's nice when you live in a world/house of perfectionists (non celiacs) to see other people make simular mistakes and have people who con relate....and not think your a blazing idiot...or that your just using your disease as an excuse because THEY think no one can be THAT stupid!!! BRAIN FOG IS REAL...DAM IT !!! :ph34r: WE'RE NOT MAKING IT UP !!!! I AM NOT A RETARD...I AM A CELIAC !!!LOL

Seriously though...It REALLY is nice to know its not just you and there are others out there who can relate...and more importantly..listen without critisizm!!!

      Update: I got a call on Monday from the GI doctor's office, they had a cancellation and an appointment opened up for Tuesday. Not much time to prepare, but I went ahead and did it anyway. I haven't been gluten free at any point, but I haven't really loaded up as much as was recommended, either. It takes another 6-8 weeks to get the results, so I'd rather get it done now. I just hope it will be enough and I won't have to try again and delay it even longer. Thanks for the recommendations and thoughtful responses, much appreciated. I will be following up with my GP soon to check for nutritional deficiencies while I'm waiting on the test results.

      thank you kind sir for replying to my post , it seems like a mine field at the moment, I gave him hard boiled eggs yesterday maybe that caused him to have a flair up today, I am feeling a bit overwhelmed at the moment, trying to keep him feeling better ,

      Welcome to the forum, @rjane! Making gluten free bread from scratch that both tastes good and holds together is a real challenge. There are some pretty good commercially made choices in the stores these days. Once the big food companies figured out there were enough of us out there for them to generate a profit, they went to work developing some good recipes that are hard to emulate at home. However, the commercially made breads are expensive! One thing to to realize is that gluten free flours often contain ingredients that are hard to digest (polysaccharides) and can cause gas, bloating and the runs. Things like xanthan gum and gar gum that are used as texturing agents. The other thing to understand is that your hubby may have developed intolerance to foods in addition to those that contain gluten. This is common among celiacs and especially in the early stages of recovery. The most common offenders are dairy, oats (even gluten free oats), soy, corn and eggs with dairy and oats being the most prevalent offenders. So, you might experiment with eliminating some of these things. As healing of the villous lining of the small bowel progresses, secondary food intolerances can disappear but full healing can take two years or longer for older adults.       my husband who is 67 has just been diagnosed with CELIAC'S and I am finding it very difficult to make meals for him, I have a new bread maker and finding it hard to make something edible from it, I am 81 and find now I have to eat the same as him ,as making meals is hard work and making 2 different meals even harder, he has been on the gluten free food for over a month and today he had a bad bout of the runs I am wondering if its my fault, I thought I was being so careful , I am finding it like a minefield trying to sort out what to give him when he has a bad day , any idea's would be welcome thank you
