Hi all..

I thought i read somewhere in the boards (can't find the silly post now)...that someone adds a little bit of baking powder into the dough for chebe, If that person or if anyone knows how much to add to a normal package, I would be SOOOO appreciative!

I just got a whole bunch of Chebe packets in that I ordered from them...

I am hoping to make some tonight....

Thanks!

I know I mentioned it ... maybe it was me. I read it on the website. I don't know how much I added. Maybe a tsp? It made a difference, though! It was lighter and fluffier.

Chebe Sandwich Buns

1) Make the dough according to package directions. (You may want to add 1 tsp. of baking powder to allow the bun to rise more.)

2) Divide the dough in 4 equal pieces and make 4 "patties" by flattening each to about 1/2 inch high. Bake at 375 F for 35 minutes (longer if frozen).

3) When baked, slice like a bun and fill it with a grilled hamburger, sliced ham, or any other sandwich filling. (And the cheese is already in the bun!)

Option: shape the dough into cylinders and make hot dog buns! One package makes 5 or 6 buns. Click here to see a photo.

No problem. I didn't make buns with it, though. I made regular balls with it.

I'd like to clarify: Is the pain you describe in the area just below your chest constant, or does it only appear when you start moving?

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
