Any Atlanteans know of good places to eat out? I'm going for a week-long business trip - I'll be staying in the Buckhead area but could always take a cab somewhere else, if necessary.

Thanks!

I don't think there are too many places to really eat but there are some. Outback Steakhouse and P.F. Changs both have gluten-free menus. Here is a list of Georgia P.F. Changs Open Original Shared Link. Here is a list of the Georgia Outback Steackhouses Open Original Shared Link. There is a place called Ritter's in Marietta, Georgia which can cater to people with Celiac Disease. We had a support group meeting there.

Here are some threads talking about gluten-free places here.

Life Cafe at Life Grocery in Marietta has a Vegan/Vegetarian menu and they are gluten-free friendly. Ask for Chef Micheal if you decide to go... I don't know if they are open for dinner, but they are def. open for lunch.

Ruth's Chris Steakhouse is also supposedly gluten-free friendly. I personally haven't eaten there but have heard some really good things about them.

I also remember hearing about a place called "Shout" as being gluten-free friendly as well...

good luck

We've eaten at several places in Buckhead and I haven't had any problem - but I usually get salads when I go out. Bah! I'm not a lot of help.

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
