Thyroid +Gluten Withdrawl

I have now completed a month of gluten free diet WOO HOO! I am loving it! However my thyroid SEEMS to be out of wack. I have never had problems with it before and I have had tests done in 2010. I am wondering if it's from the Gluten withdrawl....any thoughts?

My symptoms that make me think it's the thyroid is a pain in my neck on the right side almost right where you would check your pulse, sweating to death for no reason and night sweats. Also my ear on the same side has been plugged for months now and has a huge lump behind it and another below it right where my jaw line connects to my ear.

That doesn't sound good. It sounds like lymphnodes to me. I have always heard if you have swollen lymph nodes and night sweats to get to the doctor ASAP. I don't mean to scare you but I hope you get it checked out.

I'll third that! Doctor NOW. Even though it's Saturday tomorrow. You have an urgent care clinic near you? Or is your primary care doc available?

Thanks ladies but I realty shinty think its something that Serious. I have am Apt. On the 7th for the lump. I just really feel like my system is crazy from going of f gluten. I will keep everyone posted.

It could be an ear infection. I don't think there's such a thing as "gluten withdrawl" since it's not a drug and there's no physiological addiction. That's like saying.. "Raisin withdrawl" or "Canola oil withdrawl". I'm glad you are getting it checked out, though. I just had surgery for a lump on my thyroid that they thought was cancer. Please have them check for thyroid lumps, because thyroid cancer often spreads to the lymph nodes in that exact area and can cause ear pain, too. Mine was NOT cancer, but it took going to a couple of doctors and the lump that was removed could have morphed into cancer in a few years because it was follicular. Hope you are OK.

I can guarantee there is such a thing as gluten withdrawal! I've HAD it. And just read the posts on this board & see how many have gone through it. It's REAL & it EXISTS!

If you haven't gone through gluten withdrawal then you are a rare bird & it does happen sometimes. I am overjoyed that you were spared the misery of that. Seriously, I mean that in all sincerity.

thyroid cancer only affect thyroid function in fewer cases. most times people have it and have no thyroid malfunction at all.

i would still get it checked, i had thyroid cancer four years ago and the process to get it removed isn't as bad as you might scare yourself to be. If you are to get it removed, make sure the surgeon is a specialist- you don't want to end up with a raspy voice or a big incision. 

 

gluten intolerance/celiac is most definitely related to papillary thyroid cancer. wishing you the best and hopefully it's just your lymph nodes fighting off a minor infection

      I appreciate you validating me because medical is an issue and it's not ok at all they they do this. Some days I just want to call the news media and just call out these doctors especially when they are supposed to be specialist Downplaying when gluten-free when they should know gluten-free is false negative. Now dealing with other issues and still crickets...

About the same calories and sugar while M&M Peanuts have fiber, potassium, iron and protein that Tootsie Rolls ("We are currently producing more than 50 million Tootsie Rolls each day.") don't. Click the links to compare nutritional values. Both are made with sugar, not high fructose corn syrup. I use them as a gluten free substitute...

      I see it everyday on my feeds. They go out and buy gluten-free processed products and wonder why they can't heal their guts. I don't think they take it as a serious immune disease. They pick up things off the internet which is so far out in left field. Some days I would just like to scream. So much better when we had support groups and being able to teach...

Actively dealing with sibo and skin issues.Depression is the key because thats all they know, im depressed because medical has caused it because of my celiac and related issues. I should have never ever been employed as a bus driver.After 3 years still healing and ZERO income desperately trying to get better but no careteam for celiac other than stay away frim wheat! Now im having care because my head is affected either ms or meningioma in go in tomorrow again for more scans.I know im slowly dying and im looking like a disability chaser

While I get heartburn at night from commercial dairy milk, I do not from 'grassmilk'.

I just had an EMA blood test because I haven't had one since my Doctor moved away.  Got test results today, doctor ordered a D3 vitamin test.  Now you know what  type of doctors we have.  Now I will have to pay for this test because she just tested my D3 end of December, and still have no idea about my EMA.
