Restaurant Inquiry For AZ gluten-free'ers

I came across a restaurant in my online scouring that seems to be run by people that are close to the gluten-free issue.

I have been wanting to go do a test run, but they are a little out of my general neighborhood so I haven't made it there yet.

Their menu is both loaded with items, and well identified on the menu. And Italian, to boot.

I'd love any feedback, positive or negative.

I highly recommend. I've been to their Scottsdale & Chandler locations & have only heard good things about the other locations. Separate prep areas, separate ovens.

Enjoy!

I was at their Sedona location a week ago and had a great experience.

Great to hear. I plan to try them out in the next week.

I'm also thinking about going to Flagstaff for Labor Day weekend and noticed they also have an address right on the main street there, Milton.

I have missed Italian food. A day of hiking followed by a good Italian meal, which isn't followed by bloating/constipation/cramps/joint pain, would be an epic day at this juncture of life.

Thanks for the feedback.

Tom - Chandler wasn't on their website or I would have went there last night. What are the cross streets?

We have eaten at Picazzos several times. We were visiting the one in Tempe/Chandler, ( 440 west warner road) but it has now changed hands is no longer a Picazzos.I've heard the new restaurant still has a gluten free menu, but we have not been there since it changed hands. I was sad they changed hands since that is the one that was fairly close to us. I love their salads and pizza and pastas. And they have deserts! They do a great job of keeping things seperate in the back do help prevent cross contact.

Try it out! We enjoy it.

Aw dang . . Didn't know the Warner Rd one changed. :(

Thx for the info, Darissa.

I called them.(same phone number) It is the same manager there that was with Picazzos. Not sure what happened. The menu looks very similar. I just hope they keep the same good practices of keeping things seperate in the kitchen. We haven't tried it yet, but sure we will soon. Not sure why it all changed hands.

I loved Picazzos. I dont *remember* the one in Casa Grande having gluten-free-but that was Pre-gluten-free for me. It was independently owned (are they all?).

I believe the one in Tucson has closed. I looked at it online the other day and there were postings that it had closed.

I found the restaurant that used to be at Picazzos on Warner Road. It looks like the menu is very similar. The only downside is that Picazzo's had gone to all gluten free pasta to decrease risk of cross contact, but this new restaurant offers wheat pasta. Not sure how well they do of keeping things seperate in the back since Picazzos was so good at it.

Here is their website; We have not tried the new restaurant yet.

I love Picazzo's and visit them often.......usually the Tatum/Cactus location. The Diavolo pizza is my fav! YUM. I did recently go to the "old" one in Tempe. It was very good. They said that they just didn't want to pay the fee for the franchise so I guess they are mostly the same. I was able to get an open face sandwich there which was quite good. I didn't get sick afterward and they gave my Mom a free dessert when I mentioned it was her birthday so I hope they stay good!

Thanks for the info on the old Picazzos on Warner Road. I wonder why it was the same chef, pretty much the same menu, but a different name.

I called them, wanting desert. They no longer have the gluten free cheesecake or the gluten free apple crisp. I was alitte sad about that, as we loved their deserts. They still have their hot chocolate chip cookie with icecream though.

It sounds like you have a very reasonable GI doctor, who diagnosed you based on family history and symptoms after eating gluten. I would consider you lucky! The other option would be to make yourself very sick by doing weeks of a gluten challenge prior to an endoscopy.

Hi Colleen H,   I suffered with the pins and needles/burning feeling in my legs and feet for at least  6 years until my Nephrologist figured out that I had to go on a low salt diet.  He said my kidneys weren't strong enough to remove the salt.  The simple fix was a diuretic, but that med leaves the uric acid behind, so that wasn't an option.  On the bright side the low salt diet lowered my BP over 20 points and and the pins and needles/burning feeling went away.  Good Luck and hope this helps.

Yes this is very frustrating for me ... not sure what to think.  Feels like I'm having reactions to a lot of things  Now applesauce?? I don't understand 😞

I did ... But aren't we going to be vitamin deficienct if we are not eating due to being sick ?? If the food we eat is gluten free and we have other sensitivities , how do we get out of the cycle??  Thank you

Anyone else get pins and needles. ??? Burning feeling ? Heat makes it so much worse 😔  Winter is here.  I had to lower my thermostat because I couldn't take that hot air feeling 😔  Hopefully it goes away soon
