Lips Hurting

So, I've been gluten free since April, but my lips are still flaring up. Cracking at the corners and puffy and hurting. Is it possible that since my boyfriend works at an Italian restaurant and eating gluten, that when he kisses me, he is accidentally glutening me? If so, what could I do to prevent this?

I have seen a lot about other people reacting to gluten from kisses. But other allergies are common as well and should be a consideration. I have the exact same reaction to corn and high salicylate containing items.

Already have been to the allergist and tested for everything. Unless he has been rubbing his lips with fresh cut grass, it's gotta be the gluten. :P

When he comes home have him wash his face with soap and water and brush his teeth. Works for my husband...And since he works in flour I'd suggest a shower or at least an arm wash/clothing change. He's a walking flour bomb, probably.

I did think I got glutened once after kissing hubs (he drank beer, brushed teeth, and we kissed all within 30 minutes)...but now I'm pretty sure I was glutened 24 hours prior by sushi - was my first 24 hour symptom delay).

Thank you, I'll have to break it to him tonight. I just really hate that I'm having to inconvenience him and my loved ones even more than I already had to. >.<

I know how you feel but honestly, they'll be fine.

Tell him to consider it foreplay :).

Soooo my lips are also burning, and I don't have a BF or anyone kissing me! This just started 2 days ago, out of nowhere. Completely random, and rather uncomfortable.

Have you made sure none of your lip balms/gloss have gluten in them?

You may need B vitamins! I have had this issue for years, cracking/soreness on corners of lips- I will heal it and then it starts again in just a few days. My dentist even told me it was lack of B or C vitamins- this was before I knew I had celiac, after I found out and started supplementing with a B complex, the sore lips never returned. What I take is Country Life Coenzyme B complex. I don't take extra C, but need to begin now that it's sick season. I also use pure lanolin on my lips before bed, and it makes a huge huge difference.

Good luck!

I am on Celiact which as everything I need. It will no longer be an issue though since my boyfriend decided yesterday to just up and leave me.... Thanks all.

Thanks rmj when I first rang up it was we can't do it without , but I talked to a lovely lady and she sorted it all out for me, so it pays to be persistent , I would have had to decline if I hadn't been given the water option too , so yes I'm glad too 😌

I’m so glad they listened to your concerns!  I hope you get some answers from the MRI.

Had my MRI today I didn't have to have the manitol with my allergy's , I just had a litre of water , they were great with my concerns , so let's see if anything comes of if will keep posted once I have results 👍

Thank you ,it’s been a long road for me for having both now ,what upsets the most is that if they discovered that I also have cealiac earlier I would not have injested gluten if I was aware. Double whammy.
