My daughter's school has specialised walk to school days each term to get all the kids in together for a fun morning. Their "reward" tomorrow will be a breakfast of a sausage sizzle. So I just had to tell my daughter she has to miss out, I don't have time now to organise an alternative for her.

Who has a freaking sausage sizzle for breakfast at school?

Cook up some bacon real fast?? A bacon sizzle? Heck, I'm not exactly sure what a sausage sizzle is. If it's just sausage, could it possibly be gluten free? Or are they going to add a wheat crust, eggs, etc.?

Okay, this is going to be one of life's challenges....

Sausages on bread. Not at all suitable for a kid who is vegan and coeliac. If it's all about healthy living, why the heck does it need to be something that unhealthy at the end? Last term it was fruit.

That's crazy , I agree!!

We have the same thing but when they get to school they have fruit/fruit cups and milk or juice.

There are times when a fun snack or dessert is acceptable but not on a healthy walk to school day. Geesh . what are they thinking !!!!! Wrong message folks !!

Sounds to me like the organizers of this year's breakfast don't eat much fruit themselves. In my opinion - when something like this is planned by parents it often changes "flavor" from year to year. Are they serving fruit in addition to the sausage/toast?

Perhaps you could speak or email one of the organizers to let them know that:

1) They have excluded your child and any other with a restrictive diet from taking part in an activity that they were previously safe to participate in.

2) Fruit, Juice, Milk are far more healthful choices for this type of event.

If they make no changes, find out whom is organizing for next year and let them know your concerns - so your child can safely participate once again.

I'd bet there are many parents with similar concerns to yours that will not voice their opinion - if no one speaks up, the organizers will not understand the error they've made.

No, last term they had fruit, this term they had sausage sizzle. We are only halfway through the school year here, and it's the same people organising it. Well, she missed out and she was very annoyed at them because 3 staff members offered her a sausage on bread and she hit the third one away because she shoved it right into her face, so my DD got in trouble. I put it back onto them and said WHY would the staff do that? I would have reacted with the second time, she has more patience than I have.

I'm sorry that is awful - staff? Goodness gracious - can you bring your concerns the Principal? That's not just rude, it is potentially dangerous for your daughter.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
