Found Out I Now Have Lupus With Connective Tissue Disease

My Neuro diagnosed me after she checked to make sure I don't have Epilepsy and MS. She checked me for almost everything else. But it is Lupus for sure. But she said something that i'm confused about. She said I had a low positive ANA.

I'm going tomorrow to get my paperwork. I am so Chronically anemic I need a transfusion. I cant get the transfusion until I have an Ablation procedure because I have been doing some heavy bleeding. I have endometriosis.

Anyway in the next couple of weeks it's gonna be busy and tiring.

These are the results I have so far. Anybody have any info about these?

Test level Normal Level

Hemocrit, Blood 26.8 35-60

Hemoglobin 8.2 11-18

Ethrocytes 3.90 4.00-6.00

Mean Corpuscular Volume 68.8 80-99.9

Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin, RBC 21.1 27-31

Protien, Total Serum 6.3 6.4-8.9

Albumin, Serum 3.9 3.5-5.7

Alanine AminoTransferase Serum 9 U/L 7-52

Sorry to hear of your diagnosis. :(

ANA levels don't always indicate how active the rheumatic disease is, but it often does. A low positive ANA is probably a 1:80 or 1:160 titre.

Have your platelet levels been checked recently? I ask because thrombocytopenia (platelets are attacked so you can't clot) can be a symptom of lupus. I had a severe form of it 20 years ago and I had heavy bleeding to the point of needing a blood transfusion too. I have heard (could be way off on this) that the medical community tends to avoid transfusions with lupus patients because it can encourage more autoimmune attacks... if the endometriosis is not the cause of the bleeding, but rather thrombocytopenia, a transfusion may not help as much as it could.

Best wishes to you. I hope you feel better soon.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
