  1. Hi, Guys, Sorry if this has been asked as nauseam: Do you know any safe (gluten-free) mainstream suntan lotions? Thank you ahead of time. lisa
  2. Hi. Well, if you are one of the "lucky" celiacs (I'm being a bit sardonic...) who respond beautifully to only eliminating gluten maybe that would be far-fetched. There are many of us, however, who not only are intolerant to gluten but find we are also intolerant to many, many other foods and must discern which by the painful, slow process of elimination...
  3. Lisa, I'm very sorry you're not feeling up to snuff! You have been so helpful to me in the past I am wishing I had some great suggestions. In terms of foods to "beef you up"- do you eat beef? Then I would recommend my Mom's old stand-by- liver! Chicken livers are pretty tasty actually and very high in iron. I also think brazil nuts are good as well...
  4. Destiny, Thank you for that information- getting the word out is so important! Good luck to you! lisa
  5. You are all wonderful. Thank you. Patti, yum, I can't wait to find their hot cereal! Still a bit reactive, pain is much less, but, of course, I just made a big change in my diet again and I seem to recall when I first took gluten out their was a period of weird symptoms before it settled down, so...onward. lisa
  6. Barb, I hope they get to the bottom soon of what's wrong with your sister. I have low platelets and low white cells, pre-gluten-free and they are now returning to normal after a year gluten-free. I think during my pregnancies when they diagnosed me (hematologist) with idiopathic (meaning they don't know why) thrombocytopenia (meaning low platelets) my...
  7. GFPaperDoll, Very cool- I've always wanted to learn clogging! I study jazz, ballet and modern- how boring am I? I'm thinking of trying something like line-dancing- I hear it's so much fun! Thanks for the rice tip. I make my rice milk out of Lundberg sushi rice; maybe I should try washing it three times and then eating it. No, I forgot, I'm also corn free...
  8. Sheryll, Thank you, too. I will try to lay off the old nuts. I know, I am sad to see that cereal go! I thought I'd read on here that Arrowhead Mills can be a bit sketchy in terms of the cc? Am I wrong about that? I hate to bring up another possible problem, but it seems quite awhile ago I'd read that somewhere. Best of health to you! lisa
  9. Oh, GFPaper Doll, Thank you about the menopause thing. I have been a runner for, Yeow!, 27 years (every day 2 miles) and study dance as well so I hope that piece of the menopause stuff is in place! I hope my knees hold out and I am just thankful that I've been able to move. That's another interesting thing about the Blood type diet- Type O's need to MOVE...
  10. Hi, Guys, Wow, I have to say I feel as if I have these wonderful caretakers who I don't really know, but think I would know if I saw somewhere- even without any pictures! GFPaperdoll, thank you for all those tips. I do not intend to eat that cereal again; today is my first day without it. I did have a Lundberg rice cake with homemade strawberry jam on...
  11. Hi! Yes, I believe it is possible- I've changed all my pets to Iams and NO doggie treats because of fear of cc. Although I don't have dogs that lick my face (have a thing about that, I guess), their food gets all over the place at times and it just seemed to make sense. No hard data here, just anecdotal evidence, but, there it is! I hope you feel better...
  12. Gabby, Patti, Hi! Thank you for your encouragement! I'm anxious to see if it helps when I take it out. I really wish there were more totally gluten-free dedicated companies! Gabby, thanks for the breakfast ideas; I will try them. We have a gluten-free household because I was always getting cc'd by accident. Even the pets are as gluten-free as I can...
  13. Hello Everyone, I thought I'd tell you that I spoke with a woman at Erewhon today who told me my rice cereal is NOT made on dedicated lines. (I eat a big bowl EVERY morning) She said they clean in between and then test for gluten and she thinks they allow 10 parts per million and she THINKS the standard is 200 parts per million. Can anyone comment on...
  14. Thank you, Happy Girl. Yes, I live in an area where Lyme is endemic and have several family members, friends and my DOG who have it- so I will keep that test in mind! Patti, Lisa, you are very kind. If tonight is like the last three, I'll call my doc tomorrow! Thank you so much and I hope you are all doing very well! lisa
  15. Hi again! I hope my last post didn't sound cranky- I don't mean to be cranky! I appreciate any and all suggestions! lisa
  16. Thank you everyone for your posts and time. Mamaloca, no, I don't eat any gluten on purpose maybe I didn't make that clear- I wouldn't touch the stuff, believe me! Patti and Lisa, thank you for your thoughts; I've been thinking about GYN problems as well although I've been TWICE this year, once to my regular and once for a second opinion (fibroids) And...
  17. Lisa, Yes, I know, thank you. Last night I had that horrible deep left side pain and I guess I'd have to call it excruciating. So... I guess I'll call some doctor Tuesday. Did you have something in mind? I do have a fibroid tumor (right side) and my ovaries are checked twice yearly with transvaginal ultrasound so I don't know... Thank you for your concern...
  18. Karen, Thank you, too! I take NO drugs or supplements of any kind- not a big fan in the first place and too scared in the second. Although I do suspect I might benefit from some "beefing up"! I do wear lipstick and will recheck with Lancome (although I just did) and look at my shampoo again. (Fructis or suave) I need a suntan lotion as I work outside...
  19. Patti, Thank you so much for posting! I appreciate your thoughts as I've been reading them for a year now- thank you! I am going to call Erewhon on Tuesday (day off) and ask about that. I seem to have difficulty with small amounts over time as well and, although I'm not happy for you or me, it is helpful to understand that others have a VERY limited...
  20. Felidae, Thank you. I suspect I'm intolerant of tapioca as well and eat no processed foods other than the rice krispies (Erewhon) and an occassional Larabar. No baked goods for me- something in them causes a reaction. Last night was quite bad; I may end up calling my doctor. thank you for your thoughts. lisa
  21. Hi All, This is a particular plea to those of you who've been gluten-free for awhile. I am nearly a year gluten-free, one year and 4 months gluten-lite and have just had the WORST month all of a sudden. I am gluten intolerant double DQI, had positive bloodwork with negative biopsy after 4 months glutenfree, and soy, corn, gluten, legume and mostly dairy...
  22. Thank you for your tip! We travel to Quebec often and Lapin Saute is one of our FAVORITE restaurants so I'm so glad to hear they have a gluten-free menu. Last December we couldn't get in because we hadn't made reservations early enough. Yes, Quebec is a magical place. Thank you again! lisa
  23. YES!!!!!!! I am definitely more sensitive to things than most others I know! I am gluten, corn, soy, dairy and legume free and have been for almost a year and I still have "touchy" intestines. (for me, it's my intestines- my stomach is usually okay unless I really get nailed) BUT!!! I am MUCH better and have more good days, for the most part, than bad...
