  1. Yes! I've battled my red or red-veined eyes for awhile now. But I am (supposedly) gluten-free. If I do get severely glutened the entire whites become solid red. I think the dry eye part could be something during winter here in Maine. But I do think I'm still reacting to something that's affecting my eyes. I hope others will post regarding this. Sorry...
  2. I just have to tell you. ABSOLUTELY those sugar-free gums with sorbitol or aspartame cause those hideous symptoms! WAY before I went gluten-free I figured that out and I am not surprised to hear this has happened to you and your co-worker. I wouldn't touch any of those sugar-free products with a ten-foot pole. Just one of those little tiny mints with...
  3. Hi! I,too, am searching for gluten-free sunflower seeds and nuts. Right now I buy them in the shell and use SunGold Foods sunbutter (gluten-free and yummy), but would really love some hulled sunflower seeds I can buy. Hoping someone else will post for us! Frito-Lay says on-line they have gluten-free sunflower seeds, but I can't find them anywhere. Good...
  4. Hi. If you're celiac, I can't help but ask- Why in the world would you try wheat bread? Yikes. If you are diagnosed you can NEVER eat wheat products again- they damage your intestine. Maybe I misunderstood what you wrote. I take those enzymes sometimes as well, not sure of my body's response to them. lisa
  5. I have eliminated Pamela's after reacting for a few weeks. I suspect tapioca, xantham gum but know many long-timers on here recommended I get rid of the Pamela's stuff because they had trouble as well. ( I was only having a cookie a day!) I am currently on a modified paleo diet and doing much better. I intend to introduce only single ingredients ONE at...
  6. Hi. I'm sorry you're not feeling well and hope you get to the bottom of it soon. I get glutened OFTEN and OFTEN have no idea where the heck it came from! I NEVER eat out, make almost every scrap of my own food and bring my own meal to every event I go to. I concur with others who recommend making ALL your own food for a bit. If that doesn't work, you...
  7. Patti, Thank you for all your thoughts. It is, well, I shouldn't say "encouraging" because I don't want anyone to feel bad as well, but, "helpful", perhaps, to know that I am not the only one who can be beautifully cured by just removing gluten. I've had troubles digesting most of my life (was diagnosed I think wrongly with colitis when I was 11) but...
  8. Thank you both so much for your responses. Ursula, yes, I have researched lectins and currently don't eat many if any. But losing tomatos is definitely a hardship- although not if they make me sick! Thank you again! lisa
  9. Hi All, Are there others here who seem to do better when all grains are eliminated? I am giving the Paleo diet a try for a month after this last 2 horrible weeks. I've taken out anything processed, of which there wasn't much but I had been trying a few new things. I am gluten intolerant, positive bloodwork(tTg), negative endoscopy (after 3 months gluten...
  10. Mommida, Thank you, yes, that's the one I used. I have stopped all processed foods for now and am on a slightly modified paleo diet. I feel somewhat better, do not feel the massive gluten symptoms, yet still am not %100. I suspect I have other issues, one of which could be tomatos. (I've been gluten, soy, corn and mostly dairy-free.) Thank you for your...
  11. Thank you for your reply. lisa
  12. Hi again, Still looking for culprits. Does anyone have experience with Bove tomato sauces? Small Vermont company, claims to be gluten-free. Anyone find otherwise? Thank you. lisa
  13. Jenn I'd love to hear if you like it. Of course, I'll feel terrible if you don't! Many give reddish highlights, but if you don't want that, go with a brown. Good luck. lisa
  14. Bev and Lisa, Sorry you are unwell and I hope you are better soon. I am going on 3 weeks of feeling "glutened" after doing very well (for the most part) for awhile. In fact it's a year ago I was being scheduled for endoscopy and colonoscopy. I feel quite miserable and can't find the culprit- I don't know what to eat anymore! How long can you last on...
  15. Hi again! The name of the henna I have is "Rainbow Henna". Good luck if you try it! lisa
  16. Jenn, I've used many different hennas and where it's a plant and I only use the plant, I find they all work quite well. I'm at work and don't have the henna in front of me, but it's a plastic jar from the health food store. I'll look when I get home. You might want to try a burgundy or sherry or if you want a chocolate brown. lisa
  17. Oh my word, Jillian, the "Drano" line is my favorite, funniest thing I've read here for awhile- you made me laugh out loud, albeit in a dark, nearly demented way! That's so good- I'm afraid I'm going to steal it. I'll give you credit though ;I hope you don't mind. I'm going to chuckle about that all day...wish I had that in hand on a coupla previous occassions...
  18. Hi, I'm chiming in late so probably you won't see this but I wanted to throw in my two-cents on henna. I don't know your hair colour, I am a dark brown, but I have used henna for highlights when I was young and to cover gray for about 15 years and I HIGHLY recommend it. I find it lasts (for me) at least a month, usually two- it doesn't wash out; it has...
  19. Thank you everyone! lisa
  20. Thank you everyone very much! lisa
  21. Thank you Deb and everyone else, too! I will check out the wine; I will check on everything! lisa
  22. Thank you, Laura, Lisa and Margaret for your thoughtful responses! (Margaret, UMO is my alma mater sp? I love Orono) After reviewing my food log I am suspicious of Pamela's perhaps along with the cheddar cheese. (bummers about the cheese) No, the salmon is just freshly caught salmon BUT this time it WAS farm-raised and I have wondered about what animals...
  23. Hi All, Is Twinings tea gluten-free? I can't find a reference on here. The English Breakfast and Earl Grey are on my mind. Thanks! lisa
  24. Thank you all so much for replying. Carla, I'm fairly certain it's not a "bug", although you're right that we need remind ourselves to sometimes when hearing hoofsteps to think "horses". Debbie- very sound advice and I will continue to "weed", although I am also corn, soy and mostly dairy-free. I think someone wrote on here once that they use corn in those...
  25. Hi. I'm at the end of my rope with a over a week's worth of glutening and apparent re-glutening and cannot place a culprit. I am 10 months gluten-free, a year gluten-lite and had been doing much better with more good days than bad. This siege began with introducing Perdue whole chicken (I cook ALL my food- do not eat out or even at friend's and family...
