  1. It looks like you are reacting to gluten. Enterolab usually sends an interpretation of your results along with them. Did you get that? lisa
  2. JenKuz, Hi! Here's what I do (sans vanilla for the time being): Rice Milk Cook Sushi rice to yield one cup cooked. Bring to almost boil 4 cups water Blend with Sucanat (natural cane sugar) or any sugar to taste- usually about 4 Tbls (I do all this in parts so I don't clog or overfill blender) After well-blended, I strain rice milk into...
  3. Yes, cold hands- think I've read here that that and low blood pressure might be connected to celiac. Hmmm.... lisa
  4. Whenever I am in a bad gluten way I routinely awaken from disturbing dreams of pain and cramping interposed with weird psychic visions of an extremely disturbing sort. I am NOT crazy or in need of a shrink (although I've readily seen a few in my life when my human condition became too overwhelming to go it alone...) I am SICK, physically sick when this...
  5. Good suggestions all around- also: If you can afford it and have time one of the "proven" benefits of acupuncture is boosting the human immune system. I KNOW it has done this for me in the past and I am using it now for the same reason. Good luck to you. lisa
  6. Sara, I have no brilliant insight but hopefully someone else will post. The interesting number seems to be the Gliadin= 24, but I can't remember the particulars of that test. Would your doctor elaborate for you if you ask him/her? It's so difficult to be on our own! Wish you well- sorry I'm not much help. lisa
  7. Hi and welcome. I wouldn't want to attempt to diagnose you, but you certainly sound like you have symptoms that many others have on here. And I believe Celiac has been referred to as "the big mimic" as the symptoms can be so varied. Have you tried taking gluten out for a bit to see if you have a positive response? I assume if you are considering Enterolab...
  8. Chick2ba That seems just horrible to "not have kissed your boyfriend" in 6 months! Maybe just be sure he hasn't had any gluten prior to a bit of smooching. Maybe he'd even consider being gluten-free himself? Kissing is healing. Just a thought. Good luck to you! lisa
  9. Hi, and welcome! I don't have any great stores to tell you about but wanted to welcome you. I am from Maine and Portland is where I go as well. I am anxious for them to complete the new Whole Foods store to see how it compares to Wild Oats. I don't know if you are near Portsmouth, NH, but, just over the Maine line in Kittery there is a small but great...
  10. I wish I could help as well, but I have to tell you- you sound like me! I feel like I cannot get more than a day or so in without feeling symptomatic and I eat like you and keep a diary as well! I'm beginning to lose it! I eat only Erewhon rice krisps and Cape Cod chips for processed food, the rest fresh meat, fish, veggies and fruits. No dairy, corn...
  11. I would like to echo what Jess said. I have to say, after doing much better for awhile, I have not been doing very well since a nasty throat infection for which I did 3 ROUNDS of antibiotics in August and which has recurred 4 times! I hope you get to the bottom of this and start to feel better soon! lisa
  12. Dani, I am going through something similar right now and I don't even know what the culprit is/was! The low back pain and distention and joint aches and cracks are very bad! This has been over a week as well. If you continue to do better- I'd say it was the gluten. If not, you should probably check in with your doctor. Get well! lisa
  13. Wow! Thanks all for this and Erica for the question. I've been afraid to reintroduce any cheese because I can't seem to get a run on feeling well, but I think I might take a stab at a little cheddar now and see what happens. (gluten-free for 7 months but still having some issues) lisa
  14. Vincent, Ironically, it's Anthem Blue Cross through my school department and I must say I have never had to fight with them. Of course, they do take about a jillion dollars out of my paycheck! But , as I age and with two teenagers, I guess it's worth it! lisa
  15. Stacie, I'm sorry it's so hard right now. Your husband's symptoms sound like me sometimes (right now, actually, and Im going on 8 months gluten-free) It is so frustrating and depressing and yet, I do take some heart from Mortamer's post about "the nature of the beast" because often I CAN'T FIND the culprit for my woes! But I would not willingly ingest...
  16. Kathy Ann, I'm sorry and I AGREE! It IS a racket- I've always had to fight with every private insurer I've ever had- Mutual of Omaha, Aetna, Blue Cross- to get a claim through. I guess maybe I finally have a fairly decent company through my school system. I'm so used to fighting with them, this just took me by surprise! My kids' dad and I spent four...
  17. Hi! I just thought I would let you know I sent in my Enterolab bill to my insurance thinking they'd never pay as it was not requested by my doctor and, Yay!, they just sent me a check for close to the whole amount. Bill: $389, insurance: paid all but $39. I'm very happy about that and I hope it may encourage others to give Enterolab a try. lisa
  18. Thank you both. Rinne, corn IS a problem for me and it doesn't say it's corn-free. I guess I must call the company- maybe that will help explain. I'm having a very bad day today after trying to take my (glutensupposedlyfree) B vitamin and the plain C. I just keep stopping taking any supplements because it seems I end up with issues. But I do think I...
  19. RiceGuy, I have always wondered about that as I open my box of Erewhon Brown Rice Krisps and other things. Thank you for bringing it up! lisa
  20. Hello, Does anyone get sort of symptomatic from taking powdered Vit C? I am using NOW brand pure powder, says it's free of gluten and all the other allergens, but I think I'm getting a kind of gluteny feeling in my small intestine from it. I only take about 1/2 teas a day, which it says is 3750% daily value. I really think I need some extra C right now...
  21. Tom's of Maine is gluten-free and has all natural ingredients. Their dental floss as well. Seventh Generation dish soap is great, though a bit pricey, and it is not petroleum- based so much better for the environment. lisa
  22. Thanks, Emily! I didn't even think of the gloves. lisa
  23. Dani, Ooh, it COULD be the chicken itself (under-cooked at all?), OR I'm very suspicious of what was in the sauce. I'd say it was Friday's dinner. I can get that "balloon/pressure" feeling from gluten. But, MAN, did my body ache and hurt for a LONG while after I had salmomnella. I got salmonella from eating chicken that had gotten lukewarm in my lunchbox...
  24. akJenny I often felt (and occassionally still do) like you do. I am working on 8 months gluten-free. It is daunting, especially before I got paranoid and decides to only eat things I made myself, and, even so, I still don't feel %100. But it WILL get better. It DOES take vigilance, though. Do you have a support system- friends, family? I hope so....
  25. Thank you all! I will call and check on these brands. Nini- thank you for extensive list! Smile on- lisa
